I came across this layout / track plan a few nights ago while web surfing, which I thought I would share with you all. Amazing what you can find when you search Google for 'Gleisplan' images!

Layout's home page is at http://www.doerfner.de

Certainly an awesome track plan - well for me it is! Room size is 7.1m x 4.1m

Track is Marklin K Track in the visible areas, and C Track underneath.

Here's a couple of pictures from it to whet your appetite!

Seems to be. According to the photos on the website the modeller starting building it in 2002. That's seven years of hard work.

Very impressive! The scenery is very well done also. The milk maid must have been helping build it too because I notice in the last pic she's taking a break. biggrin

Looking at the dates, it seems like the building only took about 5 years, as the photo's are dated 2007. I hope the building is still continuing.
It for sure looks stunning!

I'm pretty sure it's still under construction. In photos 1 and 3 the catenary finishes in mid-track!

BTW, where are the trains?

this is a very neat layout, the type I like, very well constructed and executed, simple but very interesting and the different curves and levels are not overexposed.

I think it is a wellthought layout and scenery construction.
It gives me the urge to go out there and see what can I do to improve it.

Ray, if you look at some of the older photos on the website you will see trains on the track. Among everything else that is lying around.....

I'd love to see some more recent photos.

I agree with your comments John. This would be the sort of layout I'd love to build given the space, time and money!

Yes,very nice layout. But on his homepage he had a couple of prior layouts, and i think i prefer the one just before this one.

Just had that steamy feel to it.Really alive, and busy.Im sure this one gives more runtime, but its cold.

By the time you put some cars & trucks, trains onto the layout and I'm sure having put so much time into this layout more movements or objects will make it more lifely.
