I've just received my Primex 2701 "Orient Express" set (c. 1988), with metal passenger wagons. I'd like to put lighting in them.

See here

Firstly, does Märklin make a kit for these old-style wagons?

Secondly, how do you open the wagons?

Cheers,
Damon

Damon hi,

Yes, there are lighting kits for them (don't know the prod. number). And to open basically remove the top.

Bad side of the lighting kits for older models is that you need one slider per wagon or run a wire from wagon to wagon.

Instead of current pick up 7075 you can better use 7198. It will give less trouble over (K) switches.
Ask for lightning kit for Märklin coach 4037.

Good on you all. Damon thank you for the nice pictures, that set, (no, I don't have it [|)]) is my all time favorite. Well until 2008!

Lutz, thank you for the good work on the parts list. I knew you would come with all the right parts and numbers.

Everyone:
About the photos -- I should have mentioned that they aren't mine [:I][:I]
That's not my site.

My apologies if anyone thought they were my photos. I simply forgot to include a comment about that.
Cheers,
Damon

Nice set, Damon. I like the old Primex stuff. That one is definitely on my wish list!
