I know this sounds really strange, but I recently acquired a 26471 Spanische Brötli Bahn digital set, and my layout is analog. It would be prohibitively expensive to switch everything from track power to all my locomotives to digital. Is there a way to work around this? Keep in mind that I'm a technologically challenged geezer with literally one hand. Take out the decoder? Rewire/remotor the locomotive? What happens if I put it on my track with my regular transformer? Is it compatible with other systems? Am I doomed to an eternity of admiring it in the box or on the shelf? Thanks in advance for your help! Jay Zvolanek

Jay, this train should run in analog mode for you, and the headlights should work. All you need to do is access the decoder dip switches and see if an address is set. If it came with a manual, it will list every possible address, and the switch positions for analog operation. That is usually all off, or one on.

Thanks! So, I perform minor surgery to expose the chip, locate the off button, and we're good? I'll let you know what happens,!

Not surgery, just put it in the track and run it. The 26471 had a digital decoder, and Marklin digital (with the exception of delta and very early 1980’s decoders) will automatically recognise analogue and run accordingly.

Hi !!
I would be very careful with using analog transformer on decoders.Even the white new ones are not safe. (fried one?yes it happend to me)by using the new white transformer so...
Sems the danger is higher with the old metal tracs.

Happy Easter, and good luck Smile kaav800

This train has only an fx decoder, not mfx, so a conventional transformer should be fine for it. Switch mode power supply for digital wasn't out yet.
