we finally arrived in Berlin early July this year :






Since we had last been in Berlin, they had built the magnificent new glass HBF . I had looked forward
to exploring this "new" HBF in Berlin and was not disappointed - a massive structure with an imposing
presence over several levels with very many transits by way of international, intercity, local/regional,
S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains all under one roof in this "through-station" complex enclosed by glass:











The building looks splendid from across the Spee :



There were other interesting stations around Berlin, e.g. :

I first acquired an interest in the Berlin S-Bahn in 1998 when I took this image at Berlin Zoologischer Garten station :

Thereafter I obtained the classic sheetmetal Märklin (Primex ) model 3017 which I have since upgraded
twice (see my post https://www.marklin-user...-conversion#post653894):



We also found the U Bahn excellent - readily accessible, cheap, quick, frequent, easy transport around Berlin :

Oh, the southwest of Germany has some great scenic rail lines.The Hollental, the Gleisingen grade etc. With so much motive power,yet many delays.I saw a reel by Dreisbahner de of a freight consist which uncoupled in the middle and rolled to a stop. The locomotive had to reverse to retrieve it, closing the line to traffic.

I was there in 2018, and I concur it is a very well designed fit-for-purpose building.
