hi guys I am new to this site so please forgive me if i do not understand too well. I have a marklin layout using cs3+ and am going to introduce on my layout the viessmann multiplexer 5229 for viessmann signals 4751,4752 and 4753. The layout has m83 and m84's connected to it. My question are;
a - how do i connect the Multiplexer to the m84 in order to control the signals if that has to happen?
b - Do i need to programme the m84 or is this not necessary and if I do how do i do this please?
c - Would it be easier to control the signals if i purchase the commander just to control the signals.
Your assistance would be much appreciated as this is my first try at doing this using viessmann signals. Usually i use marklin signals.

Thanks
Alf

Hello Alf,

The Mux 5229 is ALREADY a dedicated signal decoder with addresses, so you don't need to plug this 5229 to M84, and don't do it !

For signals 4751/4752/4753 you need (?) to have a signal bridge 4755, in order to attach the signals to the bridge.
The bridge provides 2 x 4 pins multiplexed sockets, and each socket matches for a complete single signal with advanced lights.
See doc for 4755 here: https://viessmann-modell...755-pdfGQXY84flmYwyP.pdf

Then, each socket going out from the 4755 must be connect to one 5229, plug Hp. Do no plug the socket into Vr plug. This Vr plug is dedicated for single advanced signals.
As 4751/4752/4753 are a pair of signals, a 52292 Mux would be better than 5229. Il will allow to drive a complete set of 2 signals mounted on the bridge

You have then to program the 52292/5229 in order to assign an address (in your case, 4 consecutive addresses will be assigned for each signal, even if some addresses will not be in use depending of the signal type).
Look at this doc: https://viessmann-modell...WEB-pdf9dh6qSqImNKcZ.pdf for 5229 wiring; Look at the right side picture, it wiil show you how to wire to 5229 or 52292. Note: in the picture, the 4720 and 4726 signals have bad legend (legends are swapped, the advanced signal is 4720, and the main signal+advanced signal is 4726);
Note2: discard the 5545 command box, as it is the CS3 which commands the signals.

As you may see on this picture, the 5229 has a pair of red/brown wires which should be connected to the digital signal from the cs3.
About the dip switch of 5229, I'd suggest to set switch 1 to ON, that's it.

When the wiring is complete, then define a Base address for one of your signals in the CS3, with the right protocol (DCC or MM). Put the 5229 in programming mode (DCC or MM), and when ready click on the signal matching the address in the CS3. The first signal is now programmed, and you can switch the various colors of your signal with the CS3 command panel for signals.

I've never used 4751/4752/4753 signals, but heavily used 4726/4725/4724 signals with 5229/52292 and CS2, and it works absolutely fine. 4751/52/53 are the same as 26/25/24 except the former are not attached to a mast.
Doc for 5229: https://viessmann-modell...229-pdfKa4LLVzocJWSD.pdf
Doc for 52292: look at https://viessmann-modell.com

Good luck
Fabrice

Hello Fabrice
Thankyou very much for your information which was extremely easy to understand and very helpful. I am due to receive the signals this week and am looking forward to fitting them and seeing them working, With the signals i did order the bridge so that is not a problem. I must admit i was wondering about the 5229 and the 52292 but it seems that you pre empted my thought about that so also thankyou. May i just ask do i need to buy the Hp plug or does it come with the lights or bridge?

Thankyou once again i appreciate the help

Hello Alfred,

You don't need to buy additional plug: The bridge has the 2 X female square 4 pins plug which fits into the male part of the 5229/52292. (see 4755 doc)

Cheers
Fabrice

Viessmann do have download about multiplex signals and decoder.
Just follow it and when you use CS3 make sure set at DCC protocol in the CS3 system.
Viessmann recommended use DCC by program multiplex 5229 decoder.
If you are unsure there is videos in the Youtube that shows how to connect Viessmanns multiplex signals.

DCC = Digital Command Control
