If so, then at least not by Mr. Danneman himself. Online research reveals that his (former) layout resided in a N-scale MRR shop before being sold to somebody else during the last decade. In the shop it still had its 5 x 7 ft appearance.

I don't believe that layout was ever built. The design is included in Model Railroad Planning 1996. At the time Mike was still living in an apartment. While his editors were asking for designs of larger layouts that were condensed to fit a bedroom, they asked Mike to create an expanded version of his for the same space. I'm guessing this plan was hypothetical only, and when Mike finally got the space he needed, he went straight to the layout Brandon posted at the beginning of the thread.

Here is the info on the sold layout:

The extended track plan appeared in the book "Mid-Sized and Manageable Track Plans" by Iain Rice.

By clipping the branches, the slim look of Rocky Mountains conifers can be matched with reasonable effort.

I experimented with a "tree savings package" by NOCH. I started by giving a spruce a hair cut (on the right side), but then continued by trying to convert some ugly reputed foliage trees by trimming the branches to give them a conifer look (on the left side).
