Hi,

I am sorry if this has been posted previously.
The largest model railroad layout and collection in Australia, was owned by Mick Williams of B & W Steel.
Mick passed away in 2013.
The layout and collection, comprising models from Gauge 1 to Z, and covering most continents, were housed in the T house.

His company is now responsible for disposal (by donation) so that the people of Australia can enjoy what were his joy and passion.
A video of the collection can be viewed via the following link:
(Safe dropbox link to an .mp4 version of the T house video)

A friend of mine who is into "M" in a big way used to live in the same suburb, Thirroul & owned the local Theatre . They lived there for over 40 years & had never heard of this massive collection . I hope the layout becomes a tourist attraction in the future .

Cheers Tom in Oz

Wonderful, and would be impressive to see. If 'Mr Mick' left a legacy to fund the ongoing display of it then public access could become a reality.

I would have loved to see this when we lived in VIC but as one of the commentators pointed out, they were never to talk about it, and they didn't.

A comment that really caught me was the mention at 1:25 about "thousands of H0 models, packaging never opened rest at the ready for a layout that never materialised"

This has always been a fear of mine that waiting for the opportunity to build the dreamed-of layout will never come, and my family may become burdened with a collection they would not really know how to do justice to and I hate the idea of boxes or shelves of models rarely seeing the light of day.

It's a perfect retirement hobby, provided you get to live that long of course. Unsure

And of course, what are their plans for distributing the thousands of items in the collection?

One almost gets the idea that anyone (Australian) expressing an interest could simply ask. I guess any Model Railway Club holding public displays would be looked on favourably?

I do wonder any reason why this video is via Dropbox, presumably this clip was intended for public broadcast, was it a short TV article? - wondering why it's not on Youtube?

Thanks heaps for sharing it Kimball

Wow!...Amazing.

I hope the layout becomes open to the public in the near future.

Thanks for sharing.

It's a real shame to see the collection broken up for any reason. In any sensible country, the Government might step in and fund it as a public interest AND historical establishment. Commissioned trains, HO antiques and all the rest can't be that common, especially in the World's backlots we call home.

Sorry, I know nothing about the link to the original video.
A search of Youtube may find it.
