Finally got me one of these beauties from an antique mall in St Louis(9 hour round trip from Indiana). And my wife and I found a few other things for her and future gifts for others. A live steam plant is planned to go in her along with RC control of the engine and rudder. A nice Edwardian era ocean liner has been tops of my RC ship want list and I am not a kit builder. So this is perfect. I have seen someone post someplace that it was designed for a Wilesco steam plant. But mine ship did not have any kind of manual, just a decal on the foam inner packing explaining how to unpack and how to wind(missing the winding key as well). Not worried about the winding key, but it would be nice to know if Marklin had a particular steam engine set up in mind. As of right now, I am looking at either one of the Regner twin slide valve engines and boilers, or one of the beautiful brass engines and boilers from Saito of Japan. Both are high quality and a compliment to the Marklin quality ship. All internal bulkheads and the tank top deck I will make out of proper marine Teak hardwood. LED lighting inside to bring her alive at night, along with mast head and port/starboard nav lights will also be added. While she isnt the Titanic, she does resemble the liner Bismarck that was given to the White Star Line post WWI as repayment for the lost Brittanic(last of the Olympic class liners). She was renamed Majestic for the WSL.

Can someone look at their instruction booklet, since mine is missing, as see if a specific Wilesco steam plant model is recommended? Thanks

Hi Art, In the manual there was mention of a Marklin steam plant. I forget which one. I can look at mine and see what I can find.

Yes, please look in your book and see what is mentioned. If there are any pictures showing the installed steam plant, grab a couple pics please. I am developing the electric drive set up right now till funds are in place and I sort out which steam plant I will purchase. I did fit new propellers as the stamped ones were nearly at the water line at 2in diameter. I went down to 1 3/4 inch diameter 3 blade brass propellers. Looks much more realistic, especially with the blades set back to the wing mounts as it should be. Scale navigation lights that light up will be installed as well. Port/Starboard, foremast and one on the stern. Proper steaming lights as it should have. A couple LED strips inside the superstructure will light up all the open windows on the upper part of the ship.

A few more pics. Harbor Models has some nice brass navigation lamps with proper Fresnel lenses that look nice when lighted or not. So when I got the new brass propellors, I got a full set for Viktoria. I have a steaming half round lamp up on the foremast just above the crows nest. Then the typical port and starboard lamps. I also have a stern half round lamp that will go on the rear railing, I made up the bracket to hold it tonight. All will be working lights for twilight and night running. Enjoy the pics, forgive messy room, it becomes a bit of a "catch all" when the weather is really nice.

Sadly, that other thread answers none of my questions since I lack the manual for my ship. If someone has this manual, please take pictures of it or scan it and post it on here or you can send it to me as a pdf. Especially any part of the manual pertaining to the live steam plant and its mounting.
