Removing the locomotive and car bodies, SBB/NS RAm 500, Märklin 3071

Removing the locomotive body

The upper screw on the rear locomotive wall holds the body.  It is not necessary to unscrew the screw completely, only a few turns to release it from the hole in the body.  Then lift the rear part of the body.  The lower screw remains untouched.

The front part of the body is held by two lugs on the chassis.  After lifting the rear of the body, slide it carefully forwards and remove the body.

The car bodies:
The car bodies are held in place by two small hooks (see yellow arrow) in each end (the control car only in the connected end)  This is how the hooks look when engaged to the car chassis (this is the connected end of the control car):

With your fingertip, carefully push the wall inwards, one side at the time, just in front of the pointing screwdriver.  I find id best to do this with the car upside down, pushing the wall carefully with one finger, while lifting the chassis (holding the bogie) with the other hand.  This way it's easy to see what's happening and control the "wall pushing":

First one end of the car, then the other end is easier.

The control car's driver's end is secured by small lugs, similar to the locomotive.
