The Class BR 85 was built for servicing steep hill climbs in the
Schwartzwald area of Bavaria. The Höllental (Hell valley) was the
natural habitat of these locos, as they could pull trains with a speed of
23 km/h on 5% grades. The class 85 was also used as a "helper"
loco in grades. The model of it also gives an impression of a very
powerful and capable loco.

Almost
never derails. Can take narrow curves due to the articulated frame
construction. |

A very good
loco with good overall performance |
This was the first loco with 5 driving axles I
got.. It ran very smoothly and silently right out of the box. It had
probably been a shelf-warmer in the tiny toy shop I found it in. The box
for this particular loco was a plastic box that was clear and blue. The
loco immediately became my favorite and still has a "place in my
heart".
If you find the 3308 at a swap market or similar, buy it
!!
This particular loco is now converted
with a 6090 set, and performs even better nowadays..
The 3308 was taken out of production some year ago. Immediately after, it
was released in a one-time series as a 33081, this time with a Delta
decoder.
