V200.
THE name for timeless beauty. Shortly after the prototype appeared on the tracks, Märklin sold a model of that loco. The four digits "3021" nearly have the same mysterious sound in them like the well known "3000".

But why this old model, and not the new one?

Because it followed the Märklinists through so many years. It was sold in more than 15 different versions. Four different loco numbers: V200 006, V200 027, V200 035, V200 060. Last series even got an epoch IV number. With inscription "Deutsche Bundesbahn" or DB signet. With two headlights and with three headlights. With different styles of the silver line: flat, two connected lines, even three connected lines.

Derailment sensitivity  One of my locos is so fast, that it derails at high
speed in 360mm curves.
Speed characteristics  Depends on the series, some are rather slow, but
most are quite fast
Detailing and looks  Wrong roof
Model choice factor  The most beautiful Diesel loco of at least the 1950s
and 1960s.
Features
Playability for children  Anything can be done (and has been) without
harm. Metal all over.
Fun for children  Children will certainly have no feeling for a beauty
of the past.
Over all  Very good but not unique.

It was my first loco, which I bought from my own money when I was 9 years old. The first "big loco". It was sold as a set with three express coaches. My first express train. When I visited a swap market some years later, I realized, that there were more versions. And now there are two locos in my collection (V200 060 and V200 006). There will probably follow the other two locos (V200 027 and V200 035) some day. Imagine a loco shed with 4 different V200s or a station with four trains, hauled by a V200. Of course detailing is not up to the latest style, but I like the atmosphere of these models. As there is plenty of room inside the loco, some electronic can be hidden inside, like a constant lighting assembly, similar to the one, Märklin used in their 33xx models.
