Hi all you who like the NoHAB diesel-electric locomotive (and the rest of you.

Lately I have spent some time in front of my PC to compile a list of all the NSB Di3 locomotives produced by Märklin. I think that the list is surprisingly long.

If interested, see this link: NSB Di3 made by Märklin

Svein,

thanks for the link. I think Märklin made their money out of this type of loco but at the same time it was a very well received model

Hi Svein,

Thanks for great Nohab list ThumpUp ! The newest NSB Nohab starter set Märklin number is 29660 and not 26990. There is this small typo that you can correct.

My favourite Märklin diesel locomotives are all Nohabs and German V200 and V60.

Regards,
Janne
Märklin H0 digital layout. I have analog and digital H0 Collection. Rolling stock mostly from era I, II, III and IV. Märklin 1 gauge beginner.

Hi Svein,

Are you sure about the production-time of 3143? At least it was offered worldwide in 1983 and I have no hints for later offers.

Thanks Janne
On the box, a couple of meters from me, I can see 29660. It will be correct soon.

Hi Markus

I got my information from Archiv Märklin v. 4.80:
Text copy:
"Export-Modell 1983 für Norwegen - 1984 und 1985 nicht im Sortiment - ab 1986 weltweit erhältlich".
Copy end
This is all I know.

I bought my first Sept. 28 1983. The (I have four, which I call 3143 A, B, C and D, in order of purchase.) two last ones were bought April 3 1987.
From their serial numbers I see that they were all produced in 1983: 317220, 305924, 312382, 316777

The NSB Noabs are all great models.
When you compare them over the 47 years they have been in production, there are some changes.
I am not thinking about what is inside. In the Picture below, four of the Norwegian Di3's shown are side by side.
At a certain time, Märklin changed the buffers. The newest locos have "inverted" type buffers where the outer tube has a larger diameter than the inner tube. the older locos have buffers of the normal type wher the inner tube is the largest.
I have looked at a lot of prototype photos but not been able to find the inverted buffer type anywhere.
So in my opinion, the "old" style buffers are the most correct, but I migtht be wrong?
Another detail which is also changed on the two newest Nohabs from 2013 is the signal horn. Here it looks like Märklin has empty stock of the correct horns and have installed the horns from the American F7's instead?

Hei Bent

It semms like Bent is correct regarding the latest NSB Di3 horns. both the 37686 DI3a 3.602 anf the 3.607 from the 26990 starter set have the big gray horn

You are correct. The front and rear skirts are lowered to make space for the short couplings.
The rivets for fixing the stairs are gone too (thanks for that!).
But otherwise you can hardly see the 47 years difference.
