Modelling "DB-Reisezüge": Recently somebody (Francisco/Ray/Steven?) was reasoning about a prototypical train composition, combining proper locos and coaches.

On the English Railways of Germany forum there are several informative threads, many with pictograms reflecting compositions and giving sources of relevant HO scale equipment.

Overview of posts:

E.g., "DB Epoche III b F-Züge"

E.g., "DB IVa F-Züge"

... and many more...

Hi AK,
Thanks for the links.

For a general overview of train make-up with diagrams, this page from the MIST4 group is excellent. It is a PDF file, just scroll down till you find the type of train you want.

In the archive section of their website, are also other PDF files about goods wagons, packwagons etc.

regards
Kimball

There is an Italian forum with lots of information about train composition. The text may be difficult to read, but the photos, model numbers and coach descriptions are universal:

There were also some very good books on German consists from Miba. Search for Miba Zugbildung. I think there were at least 4 different publications from various periods.
More from Miba:

These sites also has some useful info:

There was also this book: http://www.amazon.de/M&#...id=1357496580&sr=8-6

The LS Models site lists a number of train formations. There is naturally an emphasis on their own products but not exclusively so.
