Enjoyed these home movies from Istanbul. Something magical about trains in the snow. This is especially true in Turkey when the wagons involved are from clear across the continent!

I had the good fortune to be there in April 2010 and spotted a barge carrying a couple of DB wagons. It didn't snow then, but it was pretty cold!

Hello Mehmet!
Quite interesting subject, and clearly a super idea to translate on a model RR.
This must be the same route followed by the CIWL/ ISG Orient Express coaches before WW II, while transferring into Asia and all the way to Bagdad and Cairo!
Did you have a chance to see the builder plate on the ship and noted thd date it was build
Thanks for the pics and videos!!
Cheers.

Thanks a million Mehmet, this is just great stuff!
You are a great reporter and you have added a little more knowledge of the history of the magical Orient Express story!

I have not forgotten that you and Marklinistambul are expecting a visit some day.

I will have to make up my mind...by train of by sea? (I no longer fly...)

But you will be part of the deal, promised!

Next available trip of the train to Istambul is 5 to 6 of September 2013... so I can start planning!!

Thanks again

Thanks for the two latest instalments! Where is the wagon ferry terminal on the European side? Was the loco in the second video one of those little Br 260s?

Mehmet,

Fantastic videos and pictures. During a trip to Istanbul I saw them offloading wagons at Haydarpasa station from the ferry, great to see it finally documented.

I heard recently a rumour that there had been a bid fire at Haydarpasa station, was this correct, I must say the station looks great from you photos, as does the food.........lovely. It would have been a pleasure to join you especially if we could have had some borek to start.

Please keep your photos coming very interesting.

Best Regards,

Glenn

Hi Gary,

The wagon ferry terminal is just between the Platforms and the sea.....The loco is a bit similar to DHG 700 C (Ma: 30088.1).....but a Turkish made....Smile
