thanks everyone who has responded so far. II really need an English manual for the Marklin 6021 that I purchased recently on eBay. I have no idea on how to setup or test it out. Can anybody help me out or direct me to a link or source I can buy one? Thanks again. Ken

This is a heavily compressed version of the English manual, but seems to read OK. You will need Adobe Reader 9.0 or above to read it.

BD, you can now upload it as one file if you wish - I did adjust the max upload size as you know. Smile

Yes, I was thinking of doing that, but maybe a version with a bit less compression - which I haven't got around to doing yet!

Instructions: This is a multi spanned zip file - the forum software wouldn't allow me to upload a 5500 KB file, even though the stated maximum is 19500 KB. Download each of the 5 files and place them in the same directory. You will need to rename the 4 z0x files by removing the '.zip' from the end of the file. For example, Marklin 6021 Control Unit Digital_EN.z01.zip becomes Marklin 6021 Control Unit Digital_EN.z01, and so on for each of the 4 files. The 'Marklin 6021 Control Unit Digital_EN.zip' file does not need to be renamed. Use winzip to open the 'Marklin 6021 Control Unit Digital_EN.zip' file. From there you should be able to extract the pdf file.

WARNING: You need to download all 5 files to be able to successfully extract the pdf file. I've noticed more downloads of the .zip file than the other 4 files - that ain't gonna work!

I followed this to the letter, other than using winzip, I used the stuffit expander which is on my Mac.
Can't piece this back together, or understand how one would do so.
Am I missing a step?

I did use Winzip 16 to split the files, maybe it needs that version or greater to join all the files back up again.

Normally you would just open up the .zip file and extract the pdf from there. Winzip handles the rest for you.

You should be able to use Winzip in evaluation mode for a while, long enough to unpack the file.

Of course, I need to upload the full file, now that is possible, as Juhan suggests.

I've just discovered that there is some corruption in this file, and the original it came from. However, the master file I have is OK, so I will need to re-extract the English pages again.

Actually, the whole thing needs a rescan, as the original scan isn't that well done. I originally downloaded the file off emule, so I have no idea who scanned it. A rescan may take me a few weeks to do.

I've attached a non corrupted file to my post #8 above, and removed the zip files. The scan of the manual is not particularly great, but will suffice until I can do a better scan.

Great! Cool BigGrin File downloads easily on to my Mac and perfectly legible and clear.
Thanks so much Big Daddy. Very happy about this!! Woot

I will let you know when I get this thing functional.
It will be my first actual use of the 6021 and corresponding transformer.
Up until now, I only ran the digital locos on the blue meanies and the result was disaster.

Hello Marklinists!
Thanks to the manual ....
....Did my first test with the 6021 this week.
Exciting stuff! ... Will post a webcam video of my first foray into Digital soon.

Much easier than I imagined and went off near flawlessly,
except found out about incompatibilities of close coupler and relex coupler systems.
Will fiddle more with that before commenting though.

Thanks again Big Daddy!

I too now am in need of the English version of the manual. I printed off the condensed version from one of the posts above and that will get me started. However, if someone has a full version in pdf I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers

Did Marklin.com used to have this available through the Technical Resource Center?

Not that I can find. In fact both the Technical Resource Center and the German Service website appear to have very limited manuals, especially for anything that has been discontinued.

If I am looking in the wrong places, please let me know.

No! Marklin.de has the German version somewhere, but the English version is nowhere to be found.

I'm with you Dave, it still amazes me that the house of Marklin has such poor support in areas like this.

They would be well-placed to provide scans of older manuals, brochures, catalogues etc and at much higher quality than many of the files some of us have been sharing (oops, sorry, I mean "backing-up") between each other.

Items such as this discussed 6021 manual should be freely available direct from Marklin; after all, unless you have a 6021 it's of no use. This also includes things like the Signal Manuals, track diagram books, original Loco sheets and things like that.

My posting became way off-topic for this particular question so I'll edit out and start a new thread specifically for literature, scans, pdf's etc.

Regards

Cookee

I have rescanned the 6021 manual in its complete form (all 4 languages) but haven't as yet got around to cleaning up the file (cropping pages and compressing the file).

Bigdaddynz, I look forward to seeing this manual when you are done cleaning it up. However, based on your other post regarding the railbus, I am not sure you will share it with me since I am a self proclaimed Newbie to this forum. I can understand your frustration, but in reality this forum should be for members to help each other whether new or not. If Newbies are ignored they will give up and look elsewhere.

For me personally I may be new to this forum, but certainly not to the hobby. I have had a model railroad of some sort running for the last 50 years, and only now that I am heading towards retirement am I going back to my original passion of Maerklin. Therefore, a lot of catch up on what I have missed since the mid 80s and some frustration as to how difficult it appears to be to get documentation in English for something like the 6021 that by reading other threads seems to still be a sweetheart for a lot of model railroaders.

Cheers
Peter

How about the manual from this site.

http://www.maerklin.de/d...ml?page=1&perpage=33

Seems to be the same manual as the one that comes with the 6021.

Thanks to Frank F for posting this link on another thread.

Yes I saw that, during one of my searches, but it is German text only. The English section listed in the index is not there.

The reason for this policy was that it gives us an opportunity to get to know you and ascertain whether we think you are a trustworthy person. While we don't want to discourage 'Newbies', we also want to provide ourselves with some protection from those who would ask for and take stuff, and then either use that stuff for their own profit or cut and run and we never hear from them again. Having been burnt, I'm not particularly keen to go there again. The other issue has been the lack of somewhere to make items available, and this is something that Juhan is trying to address. I'm sure he would appreciate your patience in that regard - developing new features is not a 5 minute job , and Juhan does this in his spare time, along with all the other things he has to do in life.

As to the specific 6021 manual, I'll make an exception for it, since it seems to be the most requested item.

Thank you Bigdaddynz for taking the time to scan and upload this document. Judging by the number of downloads several people must now be happy.

Also a big thank you to Hoffmann who kindly sent me what appears to be an unused original of the manual.

Cheers
