Hi Guy's.
Please look at the picture , are these buffers original made by Marklin or were the electric lights added and modified outside the factory ?

I have never seen a version like this before .

Hi Neil

I have a similar pair but without the light on. Made in the 50s as far as I know.

I'm sure the more learned amongst us will tell you specifically about yours.

Well using my detective skills I think they were made by M itself. The buffer has a cut out for the wire
which I don't think a person who modified it would do, though you never know? Peter

Also, it last appeared in the 1952 catalogue, in 1953 it was still available as un-lighted, but the lighted one had become the newer more modern open style so it was only produced for a relatively short time

Hi,

the cutting-off of rear side of the socket of the left example does not seem to be made by Märklin in my view.

Regards

Markus

Hello,
I agree with Markus.
I show you two buffers, one is a very early one from 1939, the other one from 1941 (?), both have
the marking " Made in Germany" above the hole for the light.
Regards
Wolf
