Below are pictures of the conversion of a Mehano/IHC DC GG-1 electric to AC digital.

The first picture shows the rewired loco. I am using an Uhlenbrock 76500 decoder. The loco has two motors with fly wheel.

The next picture shows the pick-up.

The last picture shows the GG-1 in the front. Behind it is a Tyco GG-1 from the 70'. It is not very prototypical, but was my first GG-1 converted. The purple wire for the pick-up will be painted black.

How does it handle the m-track (5100?) R-1 equivalent? I've always thought about getting one. This would be one to have. I almost bought the Broadway Ltd. model.

At the moment the front or rear bogies tend to derail because the spring load pressing down the bogies is too light. But I think I can resolve the problem by conveniently adding a coil spring. However, I am still searching for a proper spring. The loco is long so the body swings out quite a bit.

I know about the Broadway Ltd. but that model was too expensive for me to just buy it and try out a conversion.

I'm not into American roads (at least not now...I used to be), but you GG-1 fans might be interested in this beauty I came across on eBay.de. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eB...item=3764822529&rd=1
