I saw this while looking around at Märklin's site;

http://produktadmin.maerklin.de/presse-upload/0001-071204Pressemitteilung_Turnaround-Preis.pdf

I think it would be great if the "turbulent times" for Märklin finally was over. Märklin themselves have been saying that lately, and I guess this "prize" also is a sign that they are on "the right track".

well, parents who aren't sure their children are going to keep playing with toy trains aren't going to spend $1500 US for a gottardo set.

Does anyone else find it bizarre that a Society of Turnaround Professionals actually exists?

With increasing global competition I think this business has a bright future... And I guess even "Turnaround-Doctors" find it useful to have some kind of society in order to exchange experiences and discuss business practicies. And since it never hurts to tell the world that you exist, I presume this "Prize" is one way for them to market themselves.

Well I guess they are professional enough to put their differences to the side if they all benefit from it. After all, a good way to make money is to be "colleagues instead of competitors".

But maybe not friends...biggrin
