Hi!

I will convert my 3048 with digital decoder and new stator. I saw that smoke generator has a common connection with the lamp socket. I am thinking if needs to separate this so I can a different function for smoke. Do you know anything abou this? It is not good to have the same function for lights and smoke generator.

Thanking in advance,
John

Definatly seperate them, because the power requirements are more than a single function output can provide.

Cheers....

Mike.

thanks for you reply mvd71 but I think that is difficult because light socket and smoke contact are screwed together and if separate them it is dificult to stick it in other place..???

the relay has 4 connectors and the package shows which is which...
two connections (indicated as a coil) are connected to the decoder as if it was a light bulb.
the other two are connected to the smoke unit and the center rail.

When the decoder puts power into the relay (function is on) the relay connects the other two contacts together, so power flows from the center rail to the smoke unit.

Hi!
I use for 3048 conversion, marklin decoder 66032 but after completing the wiring only the light is on and loco is stopped . I have allready replaced the stator with an esu. I used only two cables (green and blue ) for the motor without decoder's black wire which needs with the old stator. Do you know anything about this....?

The original bulb holder is screwed onto the chassis. it has an insulated washer inside.
take spring ring off with pair of plyers, Undo the screw, take out the washer.
the bulb holder has a slit on both sides, cut 1 mm off on each side of the slit.
This will enable you to pass a wire through on both sides.
Your plastic led holder has to be filed down a bit on both sides.
solder 2 wires to the bulb/led holder and insulate it with shrink tube, just enough so there is no naked wire showing.
place bulb/led holder with pair of plyers into the original bulb holder.
hold bulb/led/bulbholder firmly and press spring ring onto bulb holder.
make sure there is no contact between wires and chassis.

I removed the hand operated reversing leaver mounting plate and the original reversing unit holding plate.
this enables you to insert gearlight module.
Having 2 of these locos, 1 has a double and the other a rectangle speaker.
the rectangle speaker has no housing and sits in the boiler after shaving off the sides slightly.

the smoke unit is connected to the chassis and light socket is isolated from the chassis.

Thanks for your advises but the problem it is not with the light. The loco can not run and only the light is on. I do not understand what is the problem. I usually use esu or viessmann decoders but now with 66032 marklin decoder maybe needs something else......!

it sounds like your have it correct.
Is it something simple like are both brushes in place with the spring wire holding them in?
Do you have a volt meter that you can test the current across the blue and green wire?
Does the light turn off when you switch to reverse?

Hi!
dntower85 thanks for your advise i am going to check the current. The light does not turn off when I switch to reverse. Do you know if the black wire needs to solder anywhere (please note that I use marklin decoder with diferent colour code)

Thanks again

The 66032 decoder is a delta decoder, and is designed for an AC motor.

When you fit an ESU stator you make the motor a DC motor.

The easy fix here is to refit your Marklin stator and connect wires in accordance with the diagram that comes with the decoder.

This should make the problems go away.

Cheers....

Mike.

AFAIK depending on the direction current flows either between blue and black or between green and black.
Since black is not connected, there is no current at all.

Unmodified Delta decoders can't be used for DC motors.

Here's how it can be done:
