P 10 will be the first model of a collection of 5 items .....
In your opinion which Locomotives could be part of the list in the future, & would make the best candidates ? (Which Marklin model ?)

the wooden cases of the Bellingrod edition with glass instead of plexiglass were really nice (good quality)...I hope it will be the same type of case ( or even better) for the BORSIG edition...

Hi Yeehring,

To most Märklin enthusiasts, the name Borsig will probably connotate with the (fictive) BR 53-mallet. Which could be one of the loco's, but is of course a little dated and not as detailed as new models. A BR 05 (most likely without streamline as the Bellingrodt Series already featured one with streamline) would also fit into the range.

Borsig also build - among others - the BR 01, BR 03.10, BR 41 that have been produced by Märklin. Given that the BR 01 has already been marketed in many versions over the last few years, I would expect it to be one of the later models to be presented in the Borsig-range, if ever. Moreover, these locos are not produced by Borsig alone, other companies have build the same locos at the time.

Given that there are about four years separating us from the last Borsig-range model to arrive, it could very well be that completely new toolings will complement the Borsig-range. Perhaps a BR 71.0?

Regards,
Sander

Thank you Sander (perhaps this subject shouldn't be on "news from Marklin & others"....)
I think the BR 05 could be an emblem for Borsig ....A cab forward too
A streamlined BR 03-10 as well...Those made by Borsig have different skirts (connecting rods are visible)...

Hi Jeehring,

With the newly announced Insider 2013, I think I can come up with one more potential Borsig-model: the BR 58.10 has also been build by Borsig... Hopefully I will not be forced to buy a Borsig Special Edition, with a Box I cannot use, in order to obtain a Era I BR 58.10 (a.k.a. G10). We'll see...

Cheers,
Sander

Hi Steven and all,
Got mine a week ago.
I have tested on my layout;
It is simply perfect.
Maybe the best build Märklin steam loco I have had in my hands in a very long time (maybe since the 3318?)

But...the announced book on "Borsig" was missing in the boxWoot
Checked with my dealer: looks like Märklin just realized they had forgotten to put these in the boxes !!Huh Confused
Should be coming later!BigGrin

Cheers

the picture on the bottom of the wooden box is so Love ThumpUp ....(it looks like a 3D cartoon...it only needs Sleeping Beauty & Prince Charming).
Is the wooden case with plexiglass or glass ?

Real glass, good quality box, nice fit.
Did not test to see the type of glass (tempered, safety, etc..) BigGrin

I also have the Fleischmann # 1885 set + a few extra coaches.
Märklin's loco pulls way better though.
Wonderful train, even fits on a Swiss type layout.
The destination boards on the coaches say: "Berlin Anhalter Bahnhof--> Zurich"ThumpUp

Hello I promised I would post pictures of the installation of the 72270 steam generator in the P10/Borsig Edition #1 and try to establish the origins of its little Faulhaber motor.
So, here goes...

The motor is branded "Athlonix", a name I hadn't seen or heard of before.
After a quick Google research, it shows that it is a range of high-end Faulhaber motors from Portescap ( A Swiss Company, with a long experience in the field of coreless motors).

So kudos to Märklin: this one is definitely *not* an "el'cheapo motor."ThumpUp
And it shows: the loco runs fantastically and is very powerful and smooth!

Knowing that the new Crocodiles have *two* of these, looks like a no-brainer: I want it!

Cheers

I agree,
it is definitely NOT an "el cheapo cheap" motor...Athlonix = same motor brand as the Insider BR 03.10 model (if I remember correctly....But I'm not very sure)....The new no-sds E 50 also was fitted with a Portescape motor...
Portescape is a well known & famous brand...(I thought it was originally a British Cie....Confused )
thank you very much for interesting pictures Jacques !

Thanks for the information Jacques.

Looks like a man-sized flywheel as well.

No matter the size: it performs beautifully!
14 coaches (Fleischmann KPEV coaches from 1885 set , plus a few additions of the same) and it seems like it is still running light!
I hadn't bought a new Märklin steamer in quite some time, but I must say this one definitely goes on top of the stack!
