Hi all, Joan,

The adviced retail price for this one is 429,95 euro according to the LokMuseum-website. Even though it looks stunning, it might be worthwhile pointing out that this loco has never existed with this boiler / colour combination. Still a beauty, though...

Regards,
Sander

...HI Sander, are you sure ?
...why do several train manufacturers did it in the past ?....Roco, already has made BR 03.10 in blue livery....Marklin too with former model of BR 03 ...
(....we talked about it when Marklin released a blue BR 03 as a BR 03.10.......only the BR 03 didn't really exist with this boiler / colour combination...I haven't done investigations about it, but , if my memory is correct it seems that the blue BR 03.10 existed...)

Right so. The colour is correct for BR 03.10, but not with this boiler and this tender. Black cylinder blocks are not prototypically correct.

Roco made rather authentic models of BR 03.10 in blue with correct boiler and tender.

Typically they make two locos per MHI dealer, so this is a really rare and limited item.

Thank you for reminding us of the mote of the Roco model, but here we are talking about the beams of the Märklin models.
The shortcomings of the Märklin models (they made four blue H0 steamers so far) are a different order of magnitude than the Roco shortcomings.

Please, do you know how many prototypes BR03.10 in blue livery were in action at the DB during ERA III ?

DB had three 03.10 locos in blue livery: 03 1014, 03 1022, 03 1043. All three have been made by Märklin using the incorrect 03 mould and different tenders.

The prototype locos all had the original boiler. The new M* model has the new boiler.

On the MHI website, they call the livery of the 37916 "fiktiv" (German: fictive). The new model shows the state of 1959, but the locos had the blue livery from 1950 through 1954 (the first new boilers came in 1956).

Those 3 Loks from Dortmund depot are wellknown and mentionned almost everywhere ...
http://www.dbtrains.com/...motives/epochIII/BR03.10
( .... after the new boiler failures, all the units were sent to Hagen where they ended their live..)

....but are you sure that they were the only one ?

So....If MHI club said it is fictive, no more doubt, it is clear now....

BTW : today I've seen this model in a shop : just ...superb ! The blue color not like the blue BR 18.3 model. It is much darker and beautiful.
The blue color is very similar to the blue Henschel-Wegmann coaches ERA 3, dark blue between RAL 5004 & RAL 5011 (typically blue F-zugwagen from the period between 1950 & 1960 in Germany),it must be the same....Anyway : pulling the Henschel-Wegman consist should make it....... a good looking train on a layout....(to alternate with the V 200 ......)

No, but I am sure that the MHI page mentions the number 03 1022.
If it wasn't for this number and the word "fiktiv" in the description, a true Märklin fan could try to talk about a potential fourth blue prototype loco discovered by Märklin ...

03 1014 = 37955-01 (From double pack 2007) 2 Frontlights and silver rings on the boiler
03 1022 = 29845 Starter set (3795.10/1998-2001) 3 Frontlights.
03 1043 = 3097.10 Hobby program (1993-1997) 3 Frontlights.

But I can't see any difference in the tender's do,,,

The 37955-01 has a 2'2' T 26 tender from the BR 50 (smaller water tanks, rear wall for the cab) but marked as a 2' 2' T 34.
The other two have the normal 2' 2' T 34 tender of the BR 03.

The color is more like "RAL 5011" , see here :
http://www.colovid.be/nuancierral.htm#5000

Under artificial light, from a few meters distance it looks very dark ...

Rather than calling it "Fictional" (or fictive) I would speak of an "artistic view " of this locomotive (or should I say "artist view of.."...I don't know which one is correct)

I often see this kind of deviation from absolute reality spoken of as "Modeller's license". What we have here is Marklin saying "This is what this loco would have looked like if it had been painted in these colours."

I don't have a problem with this, especially if this is a one-off special.

That's the colour they name on the www.mhi.de site - the colour of the blue F trains and the three blue 03.10 steamers.

So the colour is correct and not fictive.

The 37916 is the 2012 MHI convention loco (two per dealer).
The BR 41 (37922) is not limited to two per dealer (the product database does not even contain the word "limited").

... funny : if my memory serves me correctly the BR 03-10 registered as O3-1022......was the 15000 th Locomotive made by Borsig
(I read it a few days ago on a German railways history book)

Right now I just checked the chapter about the 03_10.....Sneaky ...Finally, no, it wasn't ThumbDown ...The 15000th locomotive made by Borsig was the 03-1020 ! .... Sad Sorry everybody !....I stop to rely on my memory, definitely !
