So much to my amazement my 2008 insider Z scale Senator 88100 arrived.

Anyone else recently get one. It is made in China. I knew the original ones were but I thought Marklin pulled all Z and other manufacturing out of China so wondering why I just got one made in China ?

Thoughts ????

Frankly I thought this train was vapor ware.

My dealer said the early units had problems and that is why they stopped making them - how do I tell if it is a later production run ?

I can't answer your questions, however I am expecting mine in the next couple of weeks. I bought it from a well known German eBay seller. How does yours run?

I have not unboxed it yet. Ask the dealer if it is 1st or 2nd generation. I understand the first ones had problems. Brenda from the Marklin club assured me mine just came from the factory in China :( but it is latest gen run :)

I haven't asked the seller yet - the train was bought from a well-known and highly respected eBay seller, not a dealer. Given that it was listed about six months after the initial wave of Senator listings, I'm hoping that it is from the second generation.
