Hi everyone,
I want to know if I can use a 6020 controller as a booster.

Here's my layout - rather large, but not as big as "Monsterville". BigGrin I have a CS2 (connected to stage 1); a 6017 booster (connected to stage 2); and a 60174 booster (connected to stage 3). Now stage 4 is in progress and I need to add another booster, but I want to use the 6020 controller that I have and save buying another 60174 booster. Hence the question - is it possible to connect the 6020 up, and if so, how do I go about doing this?

Thank in advanced.
Greg

Hi Greg,

the 6020 is an autonomous unit without possibility of power/signal input. So how should it replicate a signal.

I guess it is not possible without deeper changes in the PCB layout.

If you do not want to spend that money for a 60174 booster, than look for a second hand 6015/6017 or a delta control.

Do not forget that 60174 booster will have 5 amps output with future software update, the way higher than a 6020, 6017 or a delta control.

maybe it is worth to buy it

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for the advice. I thought this was the situation, however, I thought I might just be lucky this one time. Huh I'll save up and buy another 60174, which opens another question - can I connect 2 60174's to a CS2 ? or do I need to buy a 60125 terminal box ? More expense Cursing Cursing And then I'll need a transformer . . . .Love Love Love At this rate, I'll have to go back to work. WORK !!! (as Maynard you'd to say).

Hello Greg,

yes, yo need the terminal box. The Transformer you need anyway, even if it would have been possible to use a 6020.

if you can't efford the solution is simple. Stop to enlarge your layout Cool

You already have a 60174. So you can wait the new software update, buy the 100VA power supply to raise to 5A output and connect your stage 4 to this booster too

Hi Greg,

I might be mising the point here. You need another booster for more trains, not more track, so if you are going to run the same trains over a longer route you don't need to invest in another booster.
Ray
Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Yes Ray, you're right, however, when you read between the lines - more track means more trains. BigGrin BigGrin

Stephan, I can't stop enlarging my layout - I've been bitten by the Marklin bug - it's a disease that only has one cure - NO MONEY. BigGrin BigGrin
