Hi ! I would be very grateful if anybody could help me with this question.
I've got the info that this piece is from 1952 but not sure about that. Does anybody know? Also which version it is; 800.3,800.4 ?
Don't know so much about details on this one only that it's a rare piece.

Hi Joakim,

Welcome to the forum Smile

Have you checked a Koll's catalogue already?
If that's not the case the only thing I can say is that ,after checking your pictures and comparing them with the information given in Kolls,it most probably is a version made in between 1951 and 1953.
The telltale here is the way the lamps are fitted and the type of pantograph (STA Typ 5).
Are the lamps removable from the outside? If so then my bet is that it's a CCS 800.5 made from 1951 till 1953.

Very nice locomotive by the way.Congratulations!

Hope this helps and that an expert in these matters may confirm above mentioned information.

Kind regards
Guus

Many thanks Guus! I have not checked the Kolls catalogue. The info of 1952 was from the previous owner who told me he bought it 1952 for 150 SEK approx. 17 Euros in a toystore in the city of Vasteras, Sweden. Not sure about the info this guy have mixed years before :-) therefore I put the question on the forum.

But it might be correct with 1952 when You say it's probably 1951-1953

One boring thing with this is that he told me that he remember when the original box were lost. I found this on EBAY :http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/e...=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=023
quite much for some paper and wood :-)

best regards Joakim Sweden

You're welcome Joakim.

Please bear in mind that I'm not an expert and hopefully someone with more knowledge will pitch in soon.
These old crocodiles are highly regarded by collectors and to give you an idea about the value of a "mint condition" 1952,that is complete with a box, then you're talking about something around 3000 Euros according to Kolls.

Hello,

Great lok....

Here is a reference auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/MARK...WDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

By the way,

That box has the bottom from a box of a much earlier version...quite more valuable. But it's an original box which is always rare...

OOps! I will put it in the safe at once :-) How much was the value of 17 Euros in 1952?
I can't say this is in Mint condition but it looks very nice for it's age. All details there as far as I can see? I haven't tested it yet either. I will try it within some days. I have a friend that have some old tracks that suits the "powersupply shoes" on this one.

Well I wouldn't say it's worth that much...but it's a very nice locomotive depending on condition...

Koll's always is usually VERY high price compared to what you can actually sell it for.

Yes you have a very nice collectors piece. I would consider getting the box if it is correct. It can double the value of the croc. The later series made in the late 50's 3015 crocodiles have been selling on ebay for about 500-750US$ but one in a box sold for over 1000 us$ just a few weeks ago. It seems like the market is down a bit at this time, so I would look for a box and enjoy it for now.

I'm not sure if the yellow wire on the motor is original. I seems a bit thick and bright. It might be worth looking into. If it is not original replacing it with a the correct color and right gage wire would increase its value.

My guesses were not near Kolls pricing so if it's worth half of that I'm happy. Smile
but thanks for the interest and good advices.

Hi Joakim,

I thought these two weblinks to restoration shops might be of interest to you.
They may serve as an extra source of information on the CCS 800,don't be alarmed by the high spare part prices though!

Hi Joakim
This version was produced from 1951 to 1954.
If "CCS 800" is printed in gold letters: 1953 to 1953, in silver 1954
Nice model, and the pantographs with copper tops are rare in that condition!
Hope this helps

merci beaucoup jvuye! I think the letters are in silver but the former owner says it's bought in 1952, he has mixed years before :-) (but a nice guy anyway)thats the reason I posted the question from the beginning. Maybe it's a 54 then?
