I have bought a class 482 Swiss cargo loc, its from a starting kit. Decoder in the picture.

I would like to have a red light (LED) at the rear end. Sugestions?

At 1 there is ground.
3 and 5 holds 4.75 Volts to ground.

L1 and L2 are the connections to the head-lamps at each end. Only on and off possible, no red-light at reverse end. The 3 LEDs are in series at each end, and they are SMD on a small circuit-foil. Unfortunatetly the L1 and L2 just have 2 connections, not 4, since they are shorted together by the circuit-foil and also soldered together.

4 can be controlled by setting the decoder as another locomotive and then 4 is the accessory light controlled from MS. It gives out 4.75 V, but how much mA (current)?

What are the 6-8 and 2? 2 seems to have something to do with changing direction or not changing direction.

Also, I would like a tip on what catalog number to use to register the loc in the MS, with the added functions, are there a few "generic" numbers to use for the Mobile Station?

Thanks, I have done some more testing with the articl number 37780 corresponding to ICE406.

The MS will show the symbol of extra interior light 1 at button 1, and when activating that button, I get +4,75V on the number 4-pad towards ground at pad 1.

When activating the F-function on button 5 I get 18 Volts between pad 6 and 8 so I guess I am activating some function here as well?

Is there a locomotive in the database that has the following buttons activated?
* Button 1 for interior light
* Button 4 for disabling the slow acc/dec
*button 5 for F-function

Or some other sugestion that might work?

The problem with using the f0 is that it's has a resistor before beeing grouded via the Transistor. The two transistors can be seen at
Left of L2 and left of L1 respectivly, they are marked + VS and two dots under the V.

The two resistors R1 and R2 are 5.6kOhm and they are just above and below L2/L1, seems they are marked 56Z or 562, you can see the one just above L2 but its up side down regarding with the text.

Interesting discussion....I am hoping that some of the electronics wizards out there will help solve all of the mysteries of these decoders!

I found some more info at
http://www.x-train.de/

Go to the submenue
Lokomotiven-Umbauten / Elektro-Lok / BR 185 / BR 185-CL 009

There is a description of the decoder and some futher tips.

If anyone can find out how to get that nifty little "Beleuchtungsmodul BR185/46-RF" please tell me. My german isn't good enough.

I haven't understood if they sell the PCBs or you have to made them yourself.

The photo of the ICE decoder reveals the secret of sound for the hobby loks. Although Marklin has never offered these with sound, the frame is milled for a speaker. The three connections (6,7,& 8) must of been where they planned to attach the sound effects board as on the ICE.

Interesting...

I looked at the x-train webite and it looks pretty interesting. Can one of our German speaking members tell us if Mr. Bobzin actually sells these circuit boards?
