does the Trix set of ore cars (#24202) have a different set of serial numbers on the cars?
This is a set of 12 loaded ore cars, with no locomotives, same type as the marklin long henry sets.

It has a buy now price of NZD275.00

And that's way too expensive Tony. I got a 46255 plus 3 extra 00751 wagons for $350 delivered. Still waiting for them to arrive, also my 37450 BR45.

I'm afraid that's just normal. Those are the mold seams resulting from the manufacturing process. Most Märklin metal loks' boilers will have that seam in the dome area.

Please do bear in mind that the molds both of the BR44 and the ore wagons are a bit old now, which shows... What you see is thus not a defect, but an undesirable feature.

Not at all. The boiler mould seam is actually traditional Märklin quality. I've seen very few, if any, Märklin steamers that don't show that off to a degree.

I have a early 34880, the first use of the current BR44 moulds, which looks much better than our friend's sample in this page.

Moulds unfortunately get worn through use and end up showing their age, and this BR44 generation has had a very long production run.

What you see is the result of the half-moulds not mating correctly due to being worn, and flash will form during the injection process. In that particular dome area, it's very difficult to remove flash without destroying adjacent details.

In more recent designs (such as the P8 family), Märklin has corrected this problem using inset domes (plastic!), which allows for very efficient automated flash cleanup.

I've have an old class 50, and a pretty new class 44 they both have these marks, but I only notice them when I take them out of the box, so I don't really mind.

The 26536 was in my wishlist, but now i am bit confused . I just saw my Br 45 and does not have suchs marks .
For me it matters , I demand perfection at a 599 euros set .

You do not have to look somewhere else , you just can look at other models wink .

You can always choose a Roco BR44 which for the same price won't have mould marks at that particular spot (it has them in other places, of course...), but will drop bits along the tracks and if it falls off the table, it's gone in plastic fragment bits biggrin!

I don't like the mould marks, but I can live with them. The thing that I don't like about that generation of Märklin steamers is the cabin full of motor, instead of being see-through. Still, that's better than having the motor in the tender biggrin!

first, thank you lutz and steven for the answers re the wheelsets and delivery date. i received my 26536 yesterday, and looking at the waggons i see, that the couplers and bumpers are not weathered, as you can see in the pictures of steven from early july. maybe mr.koll will have to add a second version number for this set ???
so i am still waiting for the trix 24202 to have a train of 22 waggons, which can be extended by some earlier versions of the ore waggon....
alfred...with M since 1960...layout under construction (in mind...)
collecting M items - but not a collector...

No, It is lighter that 37452 but the box is large that 37452.
