Hi all,

I'm planning to add a shadow station to my layout and with curved turnouts I would save some space. But what is the difference between old 2267 and newer 2268/2269. Are they both as good or is it a good idea at all to use curved turnouts with automatic traffic as I have read they are not as reliable as normal turnouts.

With curved trackturnouts, you can saved space of the placement!
2267 and 2268/69 have same size, but has only some different "facelooking shape"...!

If I were you I should not use them in a place like a shadow station where everything is out of reach or difficult to reach.

Some passenger cars do not like them very much.
Especially the R1 part is suspicious to me.

I do not use curved turn-outs on the Benelux layout (C-Track) but was forced to use them on the Germany layout (K-Track).

The idea about those curved turn-outs is good, but this will be the last and only time I used them.

And my Grandson's V100 Fire Train Diesel derails on C-track curved turnouts on a regular basis ... [:I]

Sometimes the derailing of cars is not the fault of the track but the rail car its self. In my case the digital premiume starter kit (the first one for C Track) passenger cars would derail on just a standard turnout and a closer look revealed that the carriage where the wheels are attached to can only be placed one way so that the couplere would not interfear. Turn the carriage 180 degrees and the problem occurs, putthe carriage back to the orriginal state and the problem goes away.

No problems with M* rolling stuff on curved K-track turnouts (2268/2269) here.

However, if you use non-M* cars with DC or even RP25 wheel sets, curved turnouts might cause derailments.

The turnout mechanism (7549) was improved some years ago. The old k-track turnout mechanism had end position turn-off contacts that could easily wear out. This problem should be fixed on the new version.

This, and perhaps some other minor details, could be the difference between 2267 and a new 2268+2269 pair. However, the 2267 was nothing else than a 2268+2269 pair, so if you get a 2268+2269 pair from the time of the 2267 you will effectively get a 2267.

I think they should make them bigger (higher radius). Then they would look much better. Today, they are so sharp that you don't want to use them where you can see them.

I will buy Märklin 4644 BP tankerwagons that have the original box and are in good condition. (No broken details)

The current layout is kind of oval, where the both ends are partly in tunnels. The current radius is normal 1 (r=360), so it would be possible to replace one curved track in each end with a curved turnout and make two ramps down behind the current table. The ramps and the actual shadow station would be C-track.

As I can see some old electric 2267 for sale 10,- euros/pcs I was wondering are they any good or should I buy the new ones?
