Hello fellow modelers,

A quick question for the group: I find myself with an entire day to get from Munich to Frankfurt later this month.

It would be manageable to visit the new (no longer so new) Marklineum, and I was wondering if the pilgrimage is worthwhile? I realize the answer is "of course", but the stop will put time and logistical headache into an otherwise packed business trip. I went to the old museum, so I'm fortunate to have had that experience already.

Beyond a layout and display cases of historical models, if there more to see? And is the factory shop any good for bargains/oddities/miscellaneous fun? Last question- do they sell spare parts there?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

I have not been there but it looks amazing. Keep in mind if traveling by train that they can run late.

Hi John,

The historical displays have not changed that much, but are rotated for variety. I like the layout, but it’s not gigantic like Hamburg. The bargain shop is hit and miss. I have bought some things there that are true bargains, and other times not so much. The company controls inventory much tighter than in the past so getting a bargain on overruns is less likely. But sometimes seconds that look like firsts to me can be a good deal. There is a service area. How many spare parts are available, I don’t know.

Hello!

I found the museum to be a lot more interesting than the previous iterations. It does feel like a real museum with interesting displays and a sort of Marklin walk through history. At least for me, it was most enjoyable and I will definitely return.

My two Canadian cents (not worth that much these days...).
