Hi I was testing my Marklin Locos from my collection. They havent been ran for nearly 3yrs they ran perfect for me 3yrs ago,but now i put them on the track and they just wont run useing my mobile station. Even when i hit find loco it doesnt pick them up. On the loco 39833 the locos lights blink when i try find loco but it wont move for me then at all. Is their anything i can try to get them to run. Many thanks.

When the lights blink, it is usually trying to chnage the address, at least using a 6021 control. Delete it from the MS roster, and try a reload. It is not mfx, and you have to know the address. It looks as if the parts list shows it has dip switches on the decoder board. The manual is no longer on the Marklin site. Is your MS an early model or an MS2? The dip switch setting decoder adresses are in any Loco manual. If all are set to off, it is in analog mode.

Mine is the MS2 Station... I tried the find loco on the Class 120 37538 and on 39832 and 39834 and nothing happened. Its as if no loco is on the track at all. But the mobile station is acting up a bit to.Sometimes the screen freezes and i have to uplug it and go again. The other evening it ran a loco at full speed when i put it on the track and i entered no loco address. It doesnt give me the reset option either where i can delete everything and start again. I bought it germany online and it came with a french german manual.Their is no change loco address option either no matter what i try.

Hi Markey Regarding the MS2- here is the manual for you to download in multiple languages (including English) *** corrected address to the manual *** https://static.maerklin....c07622e4781702905878.pdf- I advise you to reset your MS2 to factory setting so that there are no traps you may fall into. Look at page 20 of the English section of the manual above (page 44 of the whole document). - changing the address aworks only for MM2 and DCC locos is explained at bottom of page 14 of English section (page 38 of the whole document) Regarding your locos- if the loco is recognized by the MS2, then you may deal with an oil freeze. Lighter fluid could help you "unfreeze" it. Never apply brute force and use only small quantities for LF avoidcontact with the locos body - very often you are dealing with poor contacts (wheel, axles, slider) or with misplaced overhead switch - my oldest locos are from 1950 and I often extract them after a pause of 10 years or more. I never faced an oil freeze. I don't say it does not exist but may be caused by using the non-recommended oil (I used for many years winter-grade motor oil as recommended by Märklin). Another factor maybe storage conditions (temperature) I store my locos between 10°C and 25°C Cheers Jean |

Just out of curiosity, have you cleaned the track before running the locos? If the locos haven't been run in 3 years and the track hasn't been cleaned in 3 years, they probably won't run.

My first reaction was that the oil has probably seized. You say Locos, but you mention only one. That was a model from around 2004. The only models that I had issues with oil hardening were from around 1998. The 39833 was a C-Sine Motor AFAIR. I think it had the original large C-Sine motor, which adds another dimension to this issue.
So, let me ask you a few questions: What locos do you have that are not responding? You state that you are using a MS2 (60653). I have frequently encountered situations where it has refused to add or recognize a locomotive. What I would recommend that you try is the following:
Connect the MS2 to a section of track about 6 tracks long Put any locomotive on the track Press the shift key and the wrench/white locomotive symbol The screen will then display "Lok konfigurieren" (Locomotive Configuration) Scroll down to "Lok Loeschen" (Delete Locomotive) It will then open a list of the models in memory Scroll until you find the model that is problematic Select that locomotive It will then ask you to confirm Select Yes Once done, you can return to the main screen and then either shut down and restart and let it go through the registration process or manually click shift + locomotive to return to Lok konfigurieren, select "Neue Lok" (New locomotive) and the select "Erkennen" (Recognize/Detect). Hopefully this will restore the model in the registry and everything will work now.

To change loco address press "shift" + wrench/loco Once again you will be seeing "Lok konfigurieren" select "Lok bearbeiten" It will display the options "Name", "Adresse", etc select "Adresse" Change the Address of the loco (MM or DCC only). For MFX, Click on name as that is what MFX recognizes Click on OK https://static.maerklin....419f6e17701702905845.pdfRegards Mike C

Here is the corrected address (also corrected in the post above) https://static.maerklin....c07622e4781702905878.pdfIt is the same manual for both units. Simply some ressources in the earlier grey version 60653 are smaller especially memory size. Cheers Jean |

Thanks for the list. Go through your library and delete any registers for those locomotives and then go through the registration process again. The MS2 displays 10 on the screen. Sometimes it becomes testy when adding a new locomotive when all 10 spaces are taken. You can free up a space by selecting "Lok Freigeben" which will free up that space on your display if you want to add a loco to the 'ready list'

I gave the track a cleaning with Methylated spirit on a cotton bud and just like that every loco came back to life. Many thanks to you all for all your help.. Marklin could have given 39579 C103 at least a horn sound no sounds just the pantograph lifting id prefer sound.
