Dear Märklin Friends,
I'0m everyday more and more enjoying my old Märklin 800 Serie and now I wish I could find somewhere the chance to buy an orginal 1943 Catalogue and the original booklet of the SK800 delivered by our beloved Mother in 1943, eventually in a reprint version. Can anybody help me, please?
Best regards
Stefano Rocca

Hi Stefano
I am very interested by the answers you will get because I thought (and have) the 1940 and 1947 Märklin catalogues but nothing for the in-between years.
As you know there were changes in the production (paint replaced with "Brunierte" body coveing like for SK800.
Also, nickel plating disappeared and Zamak went of poorer quality because of using refuse material.
So lets wait and see the answers
Cheers
Jean

I think the catalogues from 1941 to 1946 don't exist.

I would agree (but I am not an expert on the catalogues produced). The marklin factory was somewhat preoccupied with some other matters during this time.

Dear Miguel, yours is a very smart deduction! Thank you very much for the input. Do you know anything about the original SK 800 (produced in 1943)? Does it exist?

Thank you for your kind words. When I wrote my previous post, I looked at the LCTM catalogues download page and didn't found any for the mentioned period. Now I gave a step forward and looked at the Koll's Preis Katalog (1996 H0/00 edition) and in the Catalogues section there is no mention to any catalogue between 1941 and 1946, so they don't exist.

Regarding the production of SK800 in 1943, in the Koll's Katalog, there is no mention to any production of those items in that year. I see the SK800.7 produced in 1941+1942 and SK800.8 produced in 1945. So, if yours was bought in 1943, then probably it was produced before.

Please understand that I am not an expert in these collectible items, so I maybe missing some detail...

Best regards,
Miguel

Ave everyone,

Märklin did not published any Katalog from 1941 (last 1940 Spur 00) to 1946, first due to War Effort and later ... well everybody knows that.

The Katalog 1947 was only printed for retail (very expensive in that hard time after the war) and still expensive to buy today.

Also some "New Items pages" during that time ... where only printed to join the 1947 Retail-Katalog, that also the reason of no 1948 hard print ...

I think that most of us have the Reprint from 1947 with the USA price list of 1949 where you can see the "Supplemt to Katalog D 47".

Starting from 1949 the Katalog was published for the clients (well who could effort it) ...

funny thing ... Insider say that Kingsbridge Capital Management tried to mimic that with the 2005 and 2006 year book, which everyone hats ...

have fun
Luma
