Is running in of new Marklin locomotives recommended ? If so what is the correct method please?

Hi Mike
I think, running-in a little is needed, even on today's high precision models.
Initially it was needed for machined gears to set -in (have their working surfaces polished and tamed.
Even on super duper models, contact surfaces (axles, suspended pony truck or boggies, wheel surface) are improving with a little use (usually, medium speed,no wagons.
I observe that after a short while the model runs more smoothly.

I buy lot of secondhand models give a very light oil to the motor drop a drop or 2 and then the wheel set's leave for a day then run them moderate speed both directions around 10mis each I then start slowing them down all so check bushes and traction tiers

When you buy Rocos new locomotive they recommended you drive in locomotive in about 20-30 minutes.
So in this case it is good enough by drive 10 minutes forward and 10 minutes backward.
I have not seen Märklin do recommended too but when you start use Märklin locomotive they will start increase smooth drive.
Be sure clean your tracks sometimes. |

I run them in a little at a time in both directions. First with no loads, then trains. Not very fast, so the brushes seat on the commutator, which probably was more important with the old Marklin vertical type.

Thanks - but a supplementary query: should I oil a brand new Marklin loco prior to running in or are they sold already prelubricated?
