Hi everyone,

I have a Marklin 3048 from 1964, it was my first loco and was a gift from my father. Although it is close to 50 years old it still works but in Analog. I would like to know if this model can be digitized and thus be able to use it in my layout.

Thanks in advance

Sure, you can digitize almost everything. Here is a guide in German language which can easily be machine translated online: http://www.maerklin-samm...omotiven/03048/03048.htm

There is also at least one YouTube video (in German, too) showing the process:

Hi
The 3048 is a wonderfull model
Here is mine from 1959 (the copper windings are masked by a black thin plastic foil
Sans titre.png (1,223kb) downloaded 52 time(s).

Those model were equipped with a LFCM (Large Flat Collector Motor) BUT a standard HLA (60944 Märklin 5 poles) does not fit because of the brush holder.
Some do a bit surgery with the brush holder (see below the link
The best is to use a marklin E188838 kit (28€ on ebay.de). Fits perfectly, only genuine Märklin parts.

For the surgery approach, I suggest you visit this page in this forum

Cheers

Hi Fernando,

You may find my article on the 3026, also for 3048 of interest to you.

F800, 3008, 3026 and 3048 motor conversion

A LokPilot 5 decoder would be a very suitable decoder for your locomotive.
