There is still a little time left until our big international exhibition "Alps-Danube-Adriatic". All the exhibitors are preparing hard and busy, and the organizers have their hands full as the opening date approaches...
We remind you: 18 exhibitors from 5 countries - Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia - will participate in the exhibition. The participants will exhibit 12 modular models on a 1,200 m2 surface. Interactive workshops for children will also be organized at the exhibition, and an appropriate display will mark 140 years of the Orient Express as the most famous luxury sleeper train in Europe.

Alps-Danube-Adriatic: our guests "Modellbahnclub BK 1951 Wien"
To warm up the atmosphere before the exhibition, we will introduce you to the exhibitors. we present colleagues from Vienna, Modellbahnclub BK 1951 Wien.
The club was founded by several railwaymen. We made the first scale model H0 (1:87) in a private apartment using material from Kleinbahn. Later, using two rooms behind the house in Mariahilferstrasse in Vienna, we were able to make a larger model of 60m2 with 4 stations and a total of 135m of rails. It was very demanding to manage the trains according to the timetable with a large number of wagons involved. We hung out and worked there until 2017, when they canceled our hospitality in those areas. It was very difficult to find an adequate space with a low rent. We finally managed to find 5 rooms in an old factory in Vienna's 20th district. There we store our modules (89 pieces) and work on a new fixed model. Considering that we have only 14 members (some of them are over 80 years old), it takes a lot of time.

We enjoy traveling and exhibiting our modules at friends, railway modellers, as is the case with the Railway Modellers' Club "Zagreb".
For more information about our guests, see: club page

Alps-Danube-Adriatic: our guests "Gábor Baross Railway Model Club and Railway Fan Club"

We founded the Gábor Baross Club of Model Railways and the Railway Fan Club in 1990 to help and unite the work of model railways. Our goal is to popularize Hungarian railways. That's why every year in Veszprém we organized the "National Exhibition and Competition of Railway Modellers". Only model vehicles, buildings and railway modelers with models related to Hungarian railways could participate in this competition. In addition to railway models, we also exhibit historical railway documents, railway facilities, uniforms, children's drawings and materials from railway photo contests. We regularly celebrate the anniversaries of railways in the area.
Membership in our club has continuously changed over the years. We currently have members who are railway workers, students, retirees and those working in other walks of life.
Since the mid-1990s, we have started building railway models of a modular system, which can always be assembled according to the needs of the exhibition from elements made according to the same standard. Our club already has more than 70 meters of H0 scale elements. On the models, we operate only MÁV railway rolling stock models.

Since 1991, we have exhibited several times at international exhibitions of railway models according to the MOROP standard. Since 1995, we have regularly participated in the Solent Model Railway Group exhibitions in Southampton, England. This is where we came into contact with EUROTRACK, the European Association of Model Railway Clubs. At their invitation, we have already been to Coutances in France, Dordrecht in the Netherlands, Virton in Belgium, Verona in Italy and Aachen in Germany.

In 2005, we became official members of EUROTRACK. In 2006, with the participation of members of the association, we organized the exhibition EUROTRACK-2006 in Balatonfüred, Hungary. In 2015, on the occasion of our 25th anniversary, we once again invited the clubs of the Association to Hungary. From 2001 to 2006, we participated in the Mocaniţa-Cupa model railway exhibitions in our sister city Sepsiszentgyörgy, Romania.
In 2010, the municipality of Veszprém awarded our club the "Pro Civitate" award in recognition of our activities as a non-governmental organization.
We hold meetings every weekend in the former county cultural center in Veszprém. This is where our members usually work on modules that are currently being built. All this work is covered by membership fees paid by our members, income from exhibitions, 1% tax benefits and sponsorships.

A large international exhibition in Zagreb, which was visited by 27,000 people in 3 days, was successfully completed!
The exhibition took place in a large hall of a shopping center on the outskirts of the city
UserPostedImage
We had 4 days of preparation, 3 days of visits and one day of debriefing. Some of us worked 100 hours in 8 days.
UserPostedImage
On the first day, people waited in lines for the opening
UserPostedImage
There were many organized groups with children
UserPostedImage
We have prepared colors and templates for drawing trains for them
UserPostedImage
UserPostedImage
Before the opening, I quickly went through all the layouts

After the opening, I managed to quickly shoot one film, which would later be impossible due to the crowd

My friend had more time, so he shot a longer film

Friends of American Railways are coming to the Railway Model and Model Exhibition - four friends Erik, Marko, Ludvik and Bogdan, passionate modellers, lovers of American model railways!

The idea of a new modular railway model came about after Erik announced the creation of a diorama from the movie 'The fugitive'.. Bogdan followed up on the idea with the remark that the new model should be made from the remains of the old model. The remaining friends joined in creating a new model so that everyone took care of the content of their module, which were eventually connected to each other by a functional railway line, roads, hills.

The idea then resulted in a new railway route, which they named "Greece River Junction".

The modular model consists of 10 modules of different sizes in the H0 system that can be assembled or disassembled in a relatively short time and is therefore more than suitable for exhibitions. The length of the model is 7.5 meters, and the depth is up to 1.3 meters. The railway tracks are at a height of 1 meter, which also allows children to easily see the entire model and the running of the trains.

Various time periods are presented in terms of content, from the end of the 19th century (wooden sawmill, wooden permanent bridge) to modern times (nuclear power plant, gas station).

The model has a very diverse representation of nature - hills with steep rocks, forests, grasslands and meadows, semi-deserts, waterfalls and rivers, rough seas, bridges and tunnels.

The model presents four different techniques of modeling, building and making objects and rocks, painting, recreating, imitating nature and landscape.

Along with excellent modeling and attention to detail, the mockup is also electronically perfected. Train control is digital (DCC), and 25 meters of rails and several switches are used. Many light effects (more than 250 LED bulbs in total) were installed in the nuclear power plant, railway signals, lighthouse, gas station.

It took 2 months to make the middle five modules, and an additional 2 months for the two modules at both ends. The nuclear power plant was built for more than 6 months.

There seems to be a lot of interest in model trains in Zagreb, here in Perth, Western Australia, there is model railway show on each year in June for 3 days but nothing like this, there are less an less layouts each year and European trains is a rarety.

Its like a goldmine, I wish I woul have been there

I would agree with John's comments and say it is always nice to see people who make an effort to build a layout for display and then go on and display it. It is a lot of hard work but can be very satisfying, and great for generating interest.

Thanks for posting the pictures as it is always nice on a MRR Forum to see photos of different layouts around the world. ThumpUp ThumpUp

One N layout was still in operation, but it drove well

And the next layout in H0e scale had an unfinished part

There was an even smaller Z layout that could be folded

One 0e narrow-gauge layout faithfully depicts the former narrow-gauge railway that was built in 1948 in the suburbs of Zagreb (Dubrava).
UserPostedImageUserPostedImageThe railway was 6 kilometers long, but unfortunately it did not last long, it was closed at the end of 1964.
UserPostedImageUserPostedImage
A new high-quality road nearby and comfortable buses and larger trucks took over all cargo and passengers

Like seeing the East Palestine Ohio train wreck from last year recreated. It was much worse with several tank cars exploded and burning. Chemicals spilled into a river and in the ground.
Is the black station wagon next to the PT cruiser a Volvo?
