The article contains a link to some drone footage of a UP spreader plow clearing snow from a bridge on Donner Pass.

It contains some info on UP's rotary plows as well.

Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
I have models from Era I to Era VI, but I try to focus on Eras I & III. Whoops, that one got away from me. Let's just say I focus on cool trains, regardless of the particulars :-)
So many trains and so little time.

Browsing again „Rio Grande Diesels“ vol. 3 by Joseph Strapac, I felt tempted to learn more about the last Rio Grande F-units, the ABB triplet. Honourably discharged, one A unit and one B unit are preserved in the museum at Golden (Colorado), but 1955-built B unit 5763 - in regular Rio Grande Zephyr passenger service until 1983 - went to the UP shops at Cheyenne (Wyoming) in 1996, left to die in view of circling vultures:

In 2017 the F9B was transferred from Wyoming to California in order to have it converted to power a snow plow.

Obviously DRGW 5763 became a black-painted snow plow snail, SPMW8222, located in Roseville (California):

The first photograph of the UP snow plow article shows such a black EMD B unit trailing the snow plow. I cannot decipher the road number, but it should be either SPMW8222 or one of her sisters.
