Hello. I was running some trains this morning and then I noticed that the sounds from my Lufthansa Airport Express 37779 unit were no longer working? Does anyone have any ideas on this? I already reset the unit. Still no sounds? Thanks, Peter.

Hi,
I'm guessing no sound (or noise) at all; if so, you might want to check the speaker wires or check with a new speaker.

Hi Peter Based on what I read, the most frequent cause for no sound is a failure of the loudspeaker. If - like me - you have installed mSD3s and mSD2s, then you have a collection of LS to make a short try. On my personal experience (45 Sound Märklin locos over 20 years), I only had a failure: sound missing for one full year on a 39230. A beautiful BR23 with SDS motor. After numerous decoder reset, the sound came back.
In operation of sound locos, I observed that sometimes (not that rarely) the sound may be interrupted for a short while but then it comes back by itself. Probably caused by electrical noise from pick-up shoe Cheers Jean |

Hi and I hope you're all well. Just an update on the sound loss on my LH Airport Express set (37779). 1. I checked all the solder points by the speaker in the power unit. All were fine. 2. Then I checked sound level, and it is on full sound. 3. Then I unplugged the decoder in the power unit and carefully replugged it back in. 4. All Sounds are now working fine. Of course, I'm happy with this outcome, but it seems strange at that, no? Thanks again to everyone who responded to me. Cheers! Peter.

It may have needed a cold reboot. Thaty means all power disconnected to it. Same as a cell phone. The difference between restarting, and powering down. Last month, my cars heater didn't come on like usual. I used manual mode, shut off the cliamte control, and still nothing. It had been on and set at 70f since at least November. I left it off, went into the store, and when I restarted the car, it was fine.

The 21 pin connector look robust, but if any pins are bent their performance can be a bid dodgy. When you removed and reinstalled the decoder you could have aligned the pins for a better connection. No matter why the sound came back, I am glad that it is working now. |
Regards,
Jim
I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time. |

It would have meant sending it all off to my repair guy. Cheers! Peter.
