Hi All...

I am thinking that I will purchase the Märklin 39787 (DB Br78) - Era III, and the accompanying Märklin 43126/43166/43336 (express train "mitteleinsteigswagen" passenger cars) to expand my steam rain collection and to get me all excited for the holidays !

Does anyone know if the three (3) passenger cars come as a set ? If so, what is the item number ?

Also, how good is the Märklin 39787 as a steam locomotive ? Any reviews ?

Cheerio !
Ranjit

Hi Ranjit,

I have that loco.it runs really well, the smoke unit is a good improvement over the earlier models. Good detail, and super smooth and quiet.

Cheers…..

The three cars are sold separately and do not come as a set (as far as I can see).

I have ESU BR 78 and they runs excellent by use CS3!
All functions appears on the screen too by use M4 (mfx) that CS3 support.
Fits perfect with the Umbauwagons and lighting control via ESU lokpilot 5 M4 which also appears on the screen.

Look at the ESU model. Follow the link provided and scroll down, then watch the video. It is possible to get the model for less from Germany.

I have the 31182 - small model, different livery. It runs really well, however, there is one major problem that you need to be made aware. Changing the rubber tyres is a nightmare. In fact the manual states that an experienced technician should do the job. I tried and I damaged the loco. The problem is that the chassis covers the top portion of the wheel and trying to slip the tyre between the wheel and the chassis is almost impossible. So if you by this model be prepared about changing the tyres.
Take it easy . . . . or any other way you can get it !!!!

Yes, thinking is very dangerous for your health. Especially in the Marklin world, it normally leads to excessive depletion of available funds, and then some.

For your wellbeing I recommend you stop thinking....!
