Hi, I think I've got now about 204 locos with a sound decoder, my latest count is there are still 6 loco to go and this is it., it would have cost me A$ 33.000.00 retail over 5 years approximately., an expense I don't have to lay out again unless I purchase more locos.
will concentrate on tank cars and container cars (very expensive) and digital components such as powerpacks, ECoS links, detection, braking, signal modules and may be a 2nd ECoS in future., how much are my locos worth ? if you take each loco at a price of A$ 300.00 it amounts to A$ 62.400.00, I'm rich but the reality most probably will be another picture,

John

It's good to inventory and document a collection. I save reciepts, and research current approx. values and include it in each models box.

It is hard to estimate a true value, I've had a Lufthansa set (BR 103) for sale for at least 2 years and eventually a Swiss person bought it for the price I've asked for., mind you it had all the extras including sound decoder V5, highefficiency motor with ball bearings, 4 pin electrical couplings, interior lights, cab lights, white and red Led's, marker light, I think it was Euro 590.00.

the bulk was bought in the year around 2000 and later I've added a lot of SBB locos from Roco, HAG (mainly DC) and Märklin (36000 series), my collection consists of DB, ÖBB, SBB, SNCF, 2 locos from Sweden, 1 from Belgium, 1 from Italy, 1 from Luxemburg

At least no matter the residual values in the future, you get some return when sold, or someone shall. Some spend hundreds of dollars for one concert ticket which has zero!
I have each collectable documented including my Wateford, Hutschenruether china pieces, Elka Kronach, Ekt kobalt DDR, Graff Von Henneberg, Shering, Villeroy & Boch, Haviland, Limoge', Noritake Japan, Nippon, Orifers of Sweden, and Austrian, Czech, French, Polish, and Slovenian lead crystal.
