Is it possible to adjust the CV5 (max speed) on a MM2 dekoder with a Märklin CS2 ??

If yes , how do you do it ? Because now the value is grey in the configuration of the train and not possible to adjust. I can not see , how I can reach the CV's .

See my answer in your other thread.

[edit]
But in addition to what I wrote over there, I think you can only do what you want on the programming track, not on the main line.

Hi again,

Actually, we are working with it on a programming track. But since the figures of min and max speed have a grey colour character, we can not edit them. The thing is to find a way to do it......
Do you have a CS2 by yourself.?

Regards. Roland

Hi Roland
The CS2 and CS3 have a presentation screen to adjust parameters on locos.
Depending on the decoder type, some parameters a greyed to indicate the specific adjutment is not possible / not available.

So the workaround is to change the decoders. I know you probably don't like it (we don't either) but there has been so many changes since the first decoders in 1985 with discreete components soldered vertically and the latest decoders with sound, 8 outputs, 2 inputs, that on some locos I changed the decoder 2 times already.

Here is the kind of slow speed you could get already in 2012: MFX, normal DC Märklin motor "Coffee grinder")

Cheers
Jean

It can be done for some decoders, but not for others.
And you must choose the correct decoder type in the CS2 loco settings.

What decoder do you have? If it is the mm2 decoder 60902 or equivalent the max speed and the acceleration/deceleration is set via potentiometers on the decoder itself, not via the controller.

As I mentioned in the post i linked to in post 2 in this thread, this is the same also for any of the 6090x decoders, i.e. also 6090 and 60901 (I can't remember if there is a 60903).

Rolando, post a photo of the decoder you are trying to adjust - i.e. take the body off the loco and inspect just what model of decoder it is. Until you do that we are all fishing in the dark. The decoder could have been changed from what was originally fitted, so having the catalogue number of the loco may not be of help.

Most people write "6090" for the 6090 decoder (no fx) and "6090x" for the newer fx decoders with DIP switches.
60901, 60902, 60903, and 60904 all used the same decoder, but came with different motor parts or none at all. The 60905 was a different decoder for coreless motos.
Programmable MM decoders include ESU OEM decoders and the 60760 family of decoders.

Tom

Rolando sent me this photo of the decoder, which definitely has two potentiometers on it.

Dekoder MM2.jpg

I'm not familiar enough with these, can anyone tell which pot is the speed, and which the momentum?

Hi
There is a simple method to know which is which
- turn the first one them fully counterclockwise
- turn the second one them fully clockwise

If the loco goes slowly then the first one is the speed and the second one the inertia
Cheers
