Before I left for the deep south of Tasmania, I had managed to lose 5kg. PJ didn't take the photo until he and his lovely FD had filled me full of delicious seafood and the very best of Tasmanian wine. In fact, as I write this post I am sitting at the Rockwell restaurant in Salamanca near the Horbart docks. As we were approaching the restaurant, HMAS Brisbane docked at the port. As to the layout. It is superb and very.much exhibition quality. There is soooooo much detail in the little scenes.

As a small aside, I was working for JRA (Jaguar Rover Australia) when Project Perentie was set up to show the Australian Defence Force the the new six-wheel drive land rover in the early 1980s. It was one of my last jobs before moving into IT in the late 1980's.

I am getting a bit off topic, but quite frankly every layout should have at least one Land Rover! That is why I had to build one for my Z gauge layout as there in not a lot available in Z gauge. About 3 days work out of styrene sheet with glazed windows


Even my relatives neighbours in Germany have a Land Rover, they have seen the light!

For those who are wondering where the Land Rover name Perentie comes from. It is a little Australian lizard up to 2.5 metres length. Can run extremely fast, has claws that will rip you in half in seconds and climbs trees very quickly to eat birds' eggs or birds if easily available on the menu.

This Perentie was in Morton National Park near Pigeon House Mountain south of Sydney.

I've heard great things about life in Japan. I've also heard their culture may be in jeopardy, as young people are not having kids at all hardly. It seems that genrally, globally, economically, that money is becoming more and more difficult for the younger generations., unless they inherit, or are from generational wealth. It seems that if we get ahead a bit, inflation, or catastrophe just eats it away.
We priced a first class round trip air fare to Sydney or Melbourne the other day. $7,500.00 U.S. per person. Of course, that includes meals. As winter there approaches, the fares to drop a bit.
