Hi, my loco 3001 is stuttering badly at times and is very inconsistent when running. All my other locos run smoothly. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Clean and then a drop of oil. Make sure your tracks are also clean. Do not over oil the wheels where shown in the loco instructions.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

We can be a bit mischievous here - I was going to suggest Beethoven's No 7 in the background might help the Loco

But seriously, as David suggested, clean track, wheels, and check the brushes as a starting point

Hi
There is a list of things to do:
- clean the weels with a cotton swab and isopropanol or better contact liquid: Loco upside down on a foamy support, power on the loco with one crocodile clip on the slider and the other one on the chassis.
- check if the slider is worn out (Must be EXACTLY flat) . Do not hesitate to change it if needed.
- clean the slider with a cotton swab and isopropanol or better contact liquid
- clean (Lighter fluid) and lubricate (Märklin oil or winter grade auto oil) the axles (remember the current flows though these axles and dirty/greasy axles won't help)

Here is a video on how to clean a Märklin loco

Cheers
Jean

I had a similar problem with an older lok I purchased some time back: in addition to what Jean mentioned above, I also looked closely at the armature and found it was extremely fouled with carbon that had gummed up with the remnants of overzealous oiling. Once cleaned and re-installed, it ran like new… well, as “new” as a 40+ year old lok can ;)
