I want to get an old koll's katalog, but one with pics. The versions are confusing, so what do you recommend? |

Hi Ben
By no means a specialist here but a regular Märklin collector from France.
If you want pistures, you must avoid the recent "Kompaktkatalogen" but the full size editions "Preiskatalog" on years 2006 or before
What year? - the most recent but in full edition. Is this 2006 and before ?
What subject? - Lok, Wagen, Zubehör (Locos, Cars, Accessories) - Wagen, Zubehör (Cars, Accessories) - Triebfahrzeuge (Traction units)
I have 2 Kollskatalogs of 1993 - the Locos, Cars, Accessories Band I - the special editions Band II
I hope this helps You may find many of these books on German ebay. Funnily, I purchased mines in Tempa at Chester Holly's (3818 S Himes Ave), alas closed a long time ago because Chester passed away in 1991. Jean

Well, any of the full catalogues have pictures - my 2015 one certainly does. But in addition to the 'full' catalogue I would recommend getting the 'Spezial' catalogue which has many of the commemorative and other special items in it, also with pictures. If you look up an item in the full catalogue you may find it refers you to the spezial catalogue. I cannot recall the last year that the full and spezial catalogues were produced (I have a feeling it was 2017), but now only the compact catalogue is produced which doesn't have any pictures. The compact catalogue has also been produced on an annual basis for many years, so do be careful when shopping for the full one.

The last year of the Special catalogue as well as the two volumes with pictures, was 2018. AFAIK there was also a hardbound volume with pictures that includes both normal volumes 1&2. |
