I am attempting to convert one end of an 1 metre RJ45 cable to carry a 6 pin header socket as per M.60884. There are a lot of confusing cable colour combinations out there, so I am seeking someone who can guide me to install the correct colour order on pins 2 to7 (6 conductors) on an 8 conductor RJ45 pin out spec. T-568B
I need to start the process at pin 2 Orange out of the RJ45 to the 6 pin header position 1 to carry 12vdc supply from CS3+ to the s88 module - many thanks in advance.

Colour is only a convention and in the RJ45 world the EIA/TIA standards offer 568A and 568B (among others)

To be frank skip the focus on this "which colour standard" aspect, and just look at the cable plug you have and note down the Pin->colour mapping and use that in combination with the pin number column of the "PIN Assignment for the RJ45 Plug" table on page 15 of ...
https://static.maerklin....87262615b1619688441.pdf.

And just to make sure we are clear about purpose.
This is designed to replicate the 60884 conversion cable whose purpose is to adapt ...
- FROM the 6-pin OUT from any of ...
- - a sic 6021, (actually 605x, 6043, 6023)
- - (CS1 with update)60212,
- - (CS2)60213/4/5,
- - Bus-3 output of a (L88, LinkS88)60883
- TO the input of a
- - (S88 AC)60881
- - (S88 DC)60882

should you be wanting to make use of your legacy S88 (6088, 60880) FROM
- a (CS3+)60216
- BUS-1 or BUS-2 of a (Lss, LinkS88)60883
Then this is NOT documented, however a cable is able to be constructing with reversing the S88-pin end (1=6 .... 6=1)

Thanks for the overview Peter - I certainly get the 6-1/1-6 conundrum - but plan to ‘key’ the Header connection to the s88 to prevent a contrary connection.

The documentation provided with the 60883 is far from satisfactory and ignores the connection options for a RJ45 cable - solely concentrating on 60881/60882 Bus 1 and Bus 2 out of the 60883.
If my speculation is correct - the sole 6 pin (Bus 3) output facility on 60883 will prevent any ‘daisy chain’ connections for additional s88’s. Seems to me that there has been an element of planned obsolescence at play here where your layout will be limited to 16 outputs from a single s88, enough for some but poorly served for others.

You have lost me,
Bus-3 (6 pin legacy S88 connector) offers excellent ROI for layouts with existing 6088/60880 units.

Thus removing the need to invest in forced replacement to 60881s(RJ45)
Should you need more than 62(64) new S88s(60881) then you could very well invest in a 60884(conversion cable) to offer support for another 31(32) using Bus-3.

Personally I would be well into a 2nd L88 by then.
And also, IMHO, is why a CS3(60226) + L88(+PS) still wins out over a a CS3+(60216) for anyone starting

Again you have lost me.
