Hi,

Is anyone else going to the Altenbeken show next month? I plan to be there on the Saturday.

Hello, hope all is well.

I have heard much about this show. What makes it so special, or is it just that there are so few other shows again this year?

Thanks, take good care.

Dwight

Hi Dwight,

It's the biennial show run by Z-Freunde International - I believe it is the main (only?) show just for Z in Germany. So I am hoping to see a lot of really good layouts and other exhibits. I think that a lot of the small trade specialists also turn up at the exhibition and traditionally display their new products.

Kind regards,
Carim

I hope someone can post pictures and or something about the show here. I hope to go one day. I’m sure Trainini won’t let us down ;)

The exhibition was really good. If anyone goes in future and they want to buy stuff, go early on the Saturday morning (bring plenty of cash, cards not accepted).

To give a flavour of the layouts on show (the first photo is Märklin's display layout):

Is that a Z gauge one? I don't think I have seen a Z scale Marklin factory layout at a show before.

That is a nice example of Neuschwanstein Castle

Nice model of the Wuppertal Bahn, that brings back memories of travelling on it.

This one must have taken hours to set up at the show
Laugh Laugh Laugh

Looks like it was a nice exhibition to attend. Did you try and bring any purchases back? Did Customs take an interest in your luggage?

Everything at the show was Z scale.

With regards to HMRC - there were no officers visible at Heathrow T.5 on Sunday. Anyhow, I was well below the limit (I believe that this is £390 for items for personal use).

A friend who knows I love trains returned from a recent trip to Germany with a commemorative chocolate bar and pictures/video of the Wuppertal Bahn. I was delighted and it is really cool. And here it is modeled! Small world.

Hello. Thank you, fantastic photos. The Marklin layout and the castle look great. I don’t think I’ve seen the castle nearly surrounded by water, it is always impressive.

Glad to hear it was a good show! I hope you got yourself some special items.

I understand the special release piggyback wagons were expensive and now both are listed on a website for about 60Euros. They will not ship out of Germany so these should be rare in the future.

Take good care.

Dwight

The Wuppertal Bahn also available in Z scale??? That is definitely not a Märklin, I assume . Or is it? 🤔

Märklin Z scale (mini-club) purist but not a modeler!

It's a scratch build/3-D print; and it actually works.
