I thought to present to you my $10.00 Canadian solution for my platforms for my Hamburg station!

24FB75CB-AC93-4B8A-8391-CA41A03A6991.jpeg

This picture is only showing you less than half of the platforms but you should get the picture. My platform slabs are half inch high by six inches long by three and three quarter inches wide. You’re seeing then in the flesh so they’re a little pink and embarrassed to be seen! I told them I’m only going to take one picture and I promised them the next pictures will be done when they’re attached and fully painted!

So no more embarrassing pink foam, please! 🤣

I could not have done this without my Proxxon foam cutter! Can you believe it, I can cut very thin strips perfectly straight down to one sixteenth of an inch and up to a foot long without any blemishes. Half inch, inch and two inch thick pink styrofoam can be shaped without any hassle!

$10.00 Canadian buys you one sheet of pink styrofoam and it’s half inch thick by two foot by eight foot.

That's a Vollmer Baden baden station, but you can call it Hamburg.

Look good.
Why cut them to 6" lengths if the cutter limitation is 12"?

Hi Dale,

I tried twelve inch lengths but it didn’t look as realistic as the six inch pieces do. They now look like prefabricated platform slabs that were placed there by a crane. Too bad I don’t have a Märklin Goliath to put it into perspective.LOL

Must be regarded as a medication.

It's basically homosote. Home depot only had it online back in summer.

The pink stuff is extruded polystyrene, homasote was/is a pressed paper product. I haven't seen homasote for sale in Canada for a long time. It was great for layout baseboards and backstops behind dart boards!
