I just purchased an ESU Ecos to replace my old 6021 central station, however I would like to keep my existing trackboard since it works and gives me good overview of switch and signal positions (without having to wear my glasses!).
Now how can i make these items communicate with each other?
Do I still need to use the 6021 (as a slave) or??

Yes, you will need to connect your 6021 to the sniffer connection on your Ecos.

The Ecos can then read the output signal from the 6021 and react accordingly - yes, you will also be able to use the 6021 as a throttle.

How does your trackboard work - is it analog wired or is it using the 6021 in some way?

The 6041 is a big box that connects to the 6021 I2C bus just like a 6040 keyboard, but has inputs and outputs that allow connections to switches and lamps on a mimic board.

Using the sniffer port on the EcOS is a minimal cost way to do the connection, But I had a feeling that ESU made a device for connecting Marklin I2C devices to the EcOS CAN network, but I may be wrong, I could be thinking of the Loconet interface they do have.
