Hello,

Recently, my old 3347 (BR 212) has a problem with electronic reverse unit. It goes in only in one direction. I am not sure what to do next. I think of two options

1. Find a new electronic reverse unit (61486) made by Siemen (may be out dated) and not sure the unit still avaiable on the market. If not, what should be replaced with ? Some said 60906 is not so good in running at low speed and very noisy when compare to 61486.Is that true ? And why?

2. Go for Digital conversion, what parts no. do I need ? My 3347 came with LFCM motor.

Thank you

Did you check for a loose wire or broken connection?

When I opened the housing, I have checked them all. Everything seems to be OK. But not sure which one should I focusing on ? Any clue, I mean the color of the wire.

These units 614860 are quite robust, however like all electronic boards seem to have a limited life.

The previous attempt by Marklin using both a reverse unit and digital board 246800 are always failing in comparison.

Marklin discontinued the 614860 reverse unit about 18 months ago. I think with the introduction of the 60906 decoder
for retaining flat comm motors, this has become the option with backward compatibility for AC. However not as smooth on AC like the 614860.

You could buy a secondhand 614860 from eBay de. The problem though it is secondhand and would have to take the risk of its quality. Sometimes you can be lucky and a new one can be found on eBay.

Thank you very much for all advices here ! Finally, I called my local dealer for help. He has an old unused Delta decoder, and gave it to me. It works fine ! Loco runs OK in both direction. However, I still have to find out how to connect another wire in to the main board, (the 212 has 2 lights) Light must go in the same direction. I think this Delta decoder came from an old steam locomotive that has only one wiring for the front light..

Probably best to show a graphic of the decoder with the wire points and wires coming from the board. From this a spare unused wire contact point could be located. The light wires are orange + common, grey and yellow - front and back.

You're right Dave. I can see the difference between 614860 and Delta Decoder at the low speed. Soon, I will upgrade this loco to 5 poles and new decoder. Thanks again for all information.
