done a bit of reading here and there.
in December 2017 Jacques says that the motor is an LFCM
In 2008 Webmaster says that for this type of motor you need a 60904 kit, which I believe does not exist anymore.
Converting the motor of a 3089 is NOT like working on a 3048

online shop has available 60760 with decoder
online shop has available 60941, 60943, 60944

Jacques again mentions a 60944 kit to convert the 3089 and this should do the trick. Correct ?

If I do not want to convert the motor to DC I can add only the decoder 60906 ? Apart that there aren't any other AC/DC decoders available from Markln :-)
I've used Uhlenbrocks in the past but they are a bit 'useless'

Thank you
Marco

I wrote to Marklin asking which kits I need and they told me to use the 60906 decoder as there are no retrofitting kits for this loco.
This is what I will do then.
Thank you

UPDATE !
Looking for 3089 on ebay I have seen a lot of locos in a moltitude of bodywork conditions.
I have found some more modern ones, for instance the 33911 model
This should be a more recent production of this loco, more in scale, probably the bodywork has been retooled, the engine has been upgraded, it has a decoder and it has sound, although I don't necessarily go looking for this feature.

Buying a 3089, at whatever cost, I then have to add the cost to digitise it and I have come to the conclusion that buying an already used converted loco, although 30/40 GBP more expensive, is actually better.

Anyone has the 33911 ? Are there other versions of the 03.10 in the same 140-150 GBP / 140-170 Euros range ?

Thank you
Marco
