Does anyone in the UK know their way around the insides of one of these?

If so, would they like to have a go at mine? I've opened it up to take a look and cannot find anything obviously fried so it needs someone with way more skill than I.

Difficult to describe the fault but suffice to say that the indicator lights are dim and when first switched on a loco will crawl an inch or two, nothing else happens...not good.

Alternatively, does anyone (in the UK) have one to sell? (I will put this in the wanted section later)

I could certainly have a look at it and see if it is repairable.

Here are some old pictures of the inside. They mean nothing to me but may to you.

Thank you for your kind offer to take a look, I'd be very happy to take you up on it if you reckon you may be able to help.

I'll send a pm in due course

Hi Michel
If nothing looks like fried, then check the cables if broken or shorted.
Look also if there are fuses (some are tiny electronics type)
Does anything lights up?
Cheers
Jean

Hi Jean,

From memory one of the indicator lights glows very dimly.

It would be good to bring it back to life but to be honest these things do not sell for a lot.

The problem is that there are uncommon in the UK and buying from the EU has become more expensive for some reason that I can't remember....

Hi Michel
I have one and I can tell that it is really fun to use it on analogue layouts with old locos.
If it dims faintly, it means the cord to bring power is OK I think
The other thing to verify, is the rectifier bridge (4 diodes after the incoming power cord). The diode top left corner of your picture looks as if it has already been replaced
Alas that is all I can say (not much help sorry)

PS I know what you mean with travel and shipment difficulties caused by Brexit. The customs people on both sides have been instructed to be very "expensive" in duties (not only with the UK but with China too)

out of curiosity, have you checked the voltage readings on the output plugs that go to the tracks ?
