Hello everyone.

A while back I mentioned I was working on creating z trees from plant root.

It seems I was able to find plenty of plant root which was caused by a few days of below freezing temperatures here. Most of the root material came from a plant called Verbena. Seems the cold weather killed the plant and when I dug them up, I tried to imagine a tree from the shape of the root side. I rinsed all I thought would work and dried them for a few days. After drying, I sprayed the entire surface with a plant spray used for dried flower arrangements. To get the correct tree shape, some extra “limbs” needed to be trimmed. After this I added a bit of enhancements to the tree trunk using acrylic paint. The greenery is from Woodland Scenic Clump Foliage because I had it handy, to create the tree look.

Below is the result

The figures in the photo, provides an impression of the size.

I think the results speak for themselves. A mighty Z oak. I am certain you could find some appropriate root material in your location too.

Take good care and have fun.

Dwight

You did use a shortend branch without leaves as a root to fix it in the soil? LOL

Hi

No if the photo was turned upside down, you would be looking at the root side and the plant would extend from the "trunk" upwards.

i live in a high desert and plants just naturally get dry and aged quickly. I collected this one while cleaning up. From a number of examples, only a few have the correct shape and potential to become a "tree". Of course, nothing is perfect, I have to work with it a bit and can hid imperfections with the clump material, which is glued on.

Thanks for the interest.

Take good care.
