Dear Märklin friends,

I've just received by DHL these 2 analogue models and now my qyuestion is about how connect the two unite. By the instruction it seems I'd have to open the 3028, but it seems to me too strange. Anyone of yoy has the same items and can suggest me something useful, please?

If you want to have light change-over on the control car, connect the units as described in the manual.

Without that connection, you will always have red lights on the control car, even when it is pushed.

Hi Stefano
It seems that the trailer (4028) receives the power from the slider in the 3028 motor unit and there is a "Schleppschalter" (trailing contactor) to change the lights (White / red) depending on direction

As confirmed also on the 1984 catalogue

Here is a newer version of the schleppschalter on control coaches
Schleppschalter.jpg
Principle: a contact spring attached to a wheel axle makes contact with one contact or the other depending on wheel rotation direction
Cheers

No, there is no "Schleppschalter", there is a special MRU that also changes the lights in the powered car. The wire from the powered car controls the white head light in the control car.
The control car has a slider for the interior lights and the red rear lights.

As you can see I have the same modell , permanent connected.
The wires for the interor and rear-lights are in a heat shrink tube to make it look discrete.
Just make sure the wires have enough space to move otherwise the bogies won't be able to turn and derailment will follow in the next curve.
